No Recession for Fine Sapphires

Recent sale prices of sapphires at auction have been very strong.

The table below shows auction results for sapphires in the month of December 2009.

Prices for fine quality untreated sapphires have remained at or above record prices even through the global recession: this is because fine natural sapphires are extremely rare.

Fine Ceylon sapphires continue to sell at ranges anywhere from $5000. to $10,000. Per/ct.  Burmese stones are upwards of $20,000. to $30,000. Per/ct.  Kashmir sapphires in very fine quality continue to break auction records, even in the worst financial times. Once again quality and rarity hold their value: these are public auctions, where supply and demand create the market prices.

We are very confident that natural untreated sapphires will continue to retain and appreciate in value even in the worst economies.
