Product description

This parcel presents a single transparent orangish yellow sapphire weighing 2.07 carats, cut to a precise princess shape with finished dimensions of 7.21 by 7.10 by 3.95 millimeters. The pavilion depth relative to the average girdle diameter is approximately 55 percent, a proportion that balances light return with face-up brilliance in a square princess geometry. The faceting pattern exhibits the hallmark stepped and chevron elements of a well-executed princess cut, producing a crisp square outline with well-defined corner facets and an internal cross motif when viewed table-up. The table facet and crown geometry have been polished to an excellent finish, allowing intense color saturation to transmit through the pavilion without diffusion of hue, and the proportioning yields strong facet contrast and scintillation under directional light.

Clarity has been graded as very very slightly included at the eye level evaluation, indicating that isolation of minor crystals or needle-like inclusions does not impede transparency or optical performance to the naked eye. These inclusions are sparse and subdominant to the overall visual impact, and they sit within the lower-order facet intersections rather than disrupting large facet planes, which preserves the stone’s clean pavé of reflections. The excellent polish enhances facet crispness, producing sharp facet junctions and high lustre across the crown and pavilion facets, which in a princess cut is critical to maintaining the angular internal light play and the geometric symmetry that collectors and skilled setters value.

This sapphire originates from Ceylon Sri Lanka, a source noted for producing stones with lively tone and a bright, saturated color profile, and the piece has been subject to beryllium diffusion enhancement to intensify and stabilize its orangish yellow hue. Beryllium diffusion is a high temperature treatment that introduces trace elements to the near surface and sub-surface lattice to modify hue and saturation, and it is considered a permanent enhancement when applied correctly, though it is an important disclosure for long term care and for any future lapidary work. The treatment does not affect the cut or polish quality, but when planning re-cutting or heavy repolishing it is prudent to consult with The Natural Sapphire Company so that the stone’s color-bearing depth and integrity are preserved.

For a custom setting that showcases the technical virtues of this princess sapphire, consider warm metal pairings and precise companion stones to either harmonize or provide deliberate contrast. An 18 karat yellow or rose gold mounting will sympathetically reinforce the orange-yellow axis of color, creating a continuous visual field, while a platinum or 18 karat white gold bezel or knife-edge setting will create a modern, architectural contrast that emphasizes the stone’s crisp geometry. For side stones, tapered baguette diamonds or step-cut yellow diamonds set at the shoulders will echo the princess cut’s linear facets, and near-colorless G to H round brilliant melee will deliver white flash without muting the central warmth, whereas champagne or cognac diamonds can be chosen to blend tonally. For chromatic contrast, pair the sapphire with cornflower blue Ceylon sapphires or medium-dark blue sapphires in knife-edge channel settings to create a vivid complementary scheme, or use green tsavorite garnets as small accent stones to produce a high-chroma juxtaposition that highlights the orangish component. Designwise, protect the princess corners with V or V-style prongs, or use a bezel with corner notches to preserve the square outline, and consider a low-profile basket to keep the table plane parallel to the finger while maximizing light return. For halo treatments, a single row of calibre-cut step stones or micro-set round brilliants will enhance apparent size without obscuring the precise faceting, and careful color grading of surrounding gems will control whether the overall effect reads warm and luminous or crisp and modern. For any bespoke commissions, The Natural Sapphire Company can supply CAD renderings and facet-level documentation to ensure the final setting complements the sapphire’s cut, clarity, and treated color.
