Product description

The story of this ring setting begins not with metal, but with an idea. I remember the first sketch, a slow pencil line that suggested two parallel bands embracing a central star of prongs, an elegant cradle rising to welcome a precious stone. In that early drawing there was already a promise, a promise of balance and quiet strength, of a design that makes the gem the song and the setting the harmony. From that sketch we explored proportions and profiles, we tested the feeling of weight and the way light would travel between the twin shanks. We imagined a sapphire, a ruby, an emerald, or any treasured gemstone finding home at the center, each stone bringing its own voice to the composition. The silhouette was kept refined, intentionally minimal, so that the lines could speak for themselves, and so that when the chosen stone is set, it becomes the unmistakable heart of the piece.

The gemstone that will crown this setting has its own long journey, long before my sketch became a ring. Sapphires arrive with a cool, deep history from mountainous earth, their color ranging from velvety cornflower blue to peacock green. Rubies travel from veins where heat and pressure forged a fire within, glowing with emotional warmth and ancient lore. Emeralds come with internal gardens of inclusions and a green that speaks of rain fed valleys. We work with trusted sources, with cutters who respect the stone, who orient the pavilion and crown to maximize brilliance and color. When you choose a center stone with us, you are choosing a layered story, of earth, of miners, of cutters, and of experts who confirm color, clarity, and proportion before the stone even meets the metal. The setting we create is designed to honor that story, to let the stone breathe, to allow light to dance through every facet.

Choosing the metal is another chapter in the journey. This setting can be made in 14K rose gold, 18K rose gold, 14K white gold, 18K white gold, 14K yellow gold, 18K yellow gold, platinum 950, 14K white and yellow gold, 18K white and yellow gold, 14K yellow and white gold, or 18K yellow and white gold. Each metal carries a tone and personality, and each will influence how the stone is perceived. Rose gold warms and flatters, making warm reds and pinks sing, white gold and platinum are cool and contemporary, giving blue sapphires and colorless stones a crisp, luminous stage, yellow gold is timeless and noble, complementing rich greens and deep reds. We translate your choice into a precise 3D model, we refine the prong heights to suit the intended stone shape, whether round, oval, cushion, or emerald cut, and then we create a wax or 3D print prototype. The wax becomes the cast, and the cast becomes metal, and skilled hands take over. Our bench jewelers file and solder, they bring the twin bands into perfect union, they form the prongs into the star like crown first dreamed on paper. Each surface is hand polished to a mirror finish or a refined satin as requested, and each joint is inspected for strength and symmetry.

Finally the ring moves from the bench to the jeweler who seats the center stone and sets the final tone. Prongs are burnished around the girdle, each tiny motion finished by eye and touch, so that the gem is secure and poised to face the world. After setting, the ring is given a final polish and a careful quality inspection, where we test the fit of the bands, the alignment of the crown, and the comfort of wear. We add a hallmark that certifies the metal, and we prepare a certificate of care and origin for the stone if requested. Because this is a custom made setting, we work with you through the process. We will discuss metal choice, stone source, and the subtle nuances that ensure the piece is uniquely yours. Lead times vary with metal and stone choices, but every moment is taken to honor the craftsmanship. When the piece is boxed and ready for you, it carries with it the memory of that first pencil line, the labor of hands that brought molten metal to form, and the long geological history of whichever stone you chose. If you would like advice as you decide between metals or stones, or if you prefer a specific finish or engraving, I am here to guide you through each choice, to ensure that the finished ring is not only beautiful, but also a personal companion for a lifetime.
