Product description

This custom made ring setting is engineered to accommodate both a dedicated three stone composition and an accent stone halo configuration, each executed with precise lapidary and metalsmithing tolerances. The accent stones style places smaller gemstones in a concentric or partial halo around the center stone, typically set using micro prong or bead settings to maximize surface exposure and minimize metal obstruction, thereby increasing cumulative scintillation and perceived diameter of the center gem. The three stone style positions a dominant center gem flanked by two matched side stones, a composition that reads as past, present, and future when set on a single plane, with centering geometry calibrated to equalize optical weight across all three stones. This setting accepts a range of metals, including 14K Rose Gold, 18K Rose Gold, 14K White Gold, 18K White Gold, 14K Yellow Gold, 18K Yellow Gold, Platinum 950, and mixed white and yellow gold combinations in both 14K and 18K, each alloy formulated to balance hardness with malleability for secure prong fabrication and long term wear.

From a gemstone and faceting perspective this setting is optimized for both step cut and brilliant cut stones, with dedicated prong and gallery profiles for Asscher and octagonal step cuts used as side stones, and with the center seat adaptable to sapphire, ruby, emerald, or other gem material. Asscher and octagonal cuts are accommodated in the side stone positions as specified, and their step faceting presents broad flash zones that complement both emerald and Asscher cut centers, or provide contrast against a brilliant cut center. Color grade and clarity recommendations vary by species, but for sapphires and rubies a strong medium to medium dark tone with vivid to saturated hue is preferred to preserve silhouettes under ring lighting, and for emeralds a medium tone with controlled inclusion characteristics is recommended to avoid undue stress concentration in prong points. The accent stones around the center are typically matched in color temperature and minimal variation in brilliance, set in calibrated seats cut to hold stones from 0.01 to 0.05 carat each depending on the halo density, using micro milling to ensure consistent bead sizes and secure bezels where required.

Design flexibility is a core capability of this setting, with the head architecture able to accept center stones from approximately 0.50 to 4.00 carats, or roughly 5.0 millimeters to 9.0 millimeters in diameter for round shapes, and proportionally sized length and width for ovals, emeralds, and Asscher cuts. Accepted center shapes include round brilliant, oval, emerald cut, Asscher, cushion, princess, and marquise, with the side stone positions specifically optimized for Asscher and octagonal proportions as indicated. Side stone counts can be configured as four matched Asscher cut stones flanking the center, or configured as two larger side stones in a classic three stone layout, with additional small accent melee applied to the gallery or shank as requested. Craftsmanship techniques include hand setting with staking of prongs at microscopic tolerances, laser soldering of the head to the shank to control heat affected zones, and final hand polishing to a specified finish grade. For colored gemstones setting techniques favor secure V prongs for pointed shapes and broad knife prongs for step cuts to protect girdles and corners, while halo accents are set with tight seating to maintain a continuous reflective band. Custom options include choice of metal, center gem species, matching strategy for accents, prong profile, gallery height, and internal engraving, all executed to maintain proper stress distribution and stone security over time.
