This 4.13 carat, transparent oval sapphire began its journey beneath the dense soils and ancient streams of Ceylon, known today as Sri Lanka, where centuries of gem lore and skilled hands converge. Unearthed and carefully assessed by our team, this pinkish purple beauty measures 9.58 x 7.59 x 6.73 mm, and carries an intense color that seems to glow from within. At The Natural Sapphire Company we chose a mixed brilliant cut to maximize fire and light return, and a master cutter shaped and faceted the stone to reveal scintillation across every angle. The clarity is very slightly included, evaluated at eye level, which gives character without distracting from its transparency, and an excellent polish brings out a mirror like surface. The sapphire has been heat treated, a traditional and stable enhancement that deepens tone and refines clarity, honoring the long history of gem finishing in Ceylon while ensuring beauty and durability for daily wear. As you hold it, you can almost trace the path from riverbed to lapidary, from geological patience to human artistry.
Envisioned in a custom piece, this oval pinkish purple sapphire becomes the emotional center of many design directions. Set as a solitaire ring on a warm rose gold band, tiny round brilliant diamonds hugging the shoulders will emphasize its romantic violet notes, while a delicate morganite halo will echo the pink undertones for a soft, vintage inspired look. For contrast and modern flair, a halo of white diamonds in platinum will make the intense color pop, and tapered baguette cut diamonds on the sides will elongate the finger, creating a cathedral effect that showcases the mixed brilliant cut. For a bold, colorful statement, pair the center stone with small green tsavorite garnets set as accents, the fresh green against the pinkish purple will conjure tropical gardens and lively contrast. As a pendant, a bezel or open halo setting will let light pass through the lower pavilion, highlighting the 6.73 mm depth and mixed cutting style, while matching earrings with smaller round sapphires or diamonds will complete an elegant suite. Each pairing and setting decision is about balancing color, light, and story, and our design specialists at The Natural Sapphire Company will help you choose metals and accents that protect the stone, flatter its proportions, and reflect your personal narrative.
