This transparent 2.04 carat cushion shape pink sapphire measures 7.09 by 7.07 by 4.47 mm and has been precision cut in a mixed brilliant style to balance scintillation with face up color. The cutting design employs a brilliant crown with well proportioned star and kite facets, and a mixed pavilion architecture that combines shallow steps with modified brilliant facets to maximize light return and color saturation. The table is sized to present a lively face up presence while the pavilion angles are tuned to avoid windowing, resulting in consistent brilliance across the face. Clarity is graded very slightly included at eye level, with inclusions sufficiently minor to have negligible impact on light performance. Polish is excellent, producing crisp facet junctions and clean reflection windows. The stone has been heat treated, a standard enhancement that stabilizes and intensifies the pink hue, and provenance is Ceylon, Sri Lanka, as documented by our assessment at The Natural Sapphire Company.
Color is described with technical precision as an intense pink hue, leaning toward a vivid true pink with a slight magenta bias when viewed under neutral daylight. Compared to classic Mogok pinks from Burma, which often display a deeper, more raspberry influenced pink with stronger red bias, this Ceylon example maintains a brighter, more luminous tone and a clearer face up saturation. Against Malagasy pink sapphires, which frequently exhibit cooler purplish pinks and occasionally stronger violet undertones, this sapphire reads as warmer and more vibrant, emphasizing pure pink rather than purple. Compared with Thai and Cambodian material, which can show brownish or orangey modifiers due to higher iron content, the present stone remains notably clean and pure in hue. Tanzanian and Umba Valley pinks may introduce stronger purple or mauve components, whereas Sri Lankan stones typically provide clarity and lively saturation. This particular gem represents an excellent balance of Ceylon clarity and brightness with an unusually intense color for its origin, making it particularly well suited to high quality rings and pendant settings where maximal face up color and light return are priorities. The Natural Sapphire Company presents this sapphire as a technically refined specimen for collectors and connoisseurs who appreciate precise cutting, documented origin, and a strong, collectible pink tone.
