Product description

This 1.06 carat pear shape pinkish purple sapphire is presented by The Natural Sapphire Company as an exceptional addition to a refined gemstone collection, transparent with strong clarity and intense color. The stone measures 6.81 by 4.80 by 3.89 millimeters, exhibiting a pleasing length to width ratio of approximately 1.42, and a well controlled depth that evaluates to roughly 67 percent of the average diameter. Origin is Ceylon Sri Lanka, a classic source known for sapphires that display vibrant color saturation and excellent light transmission. Enhancement is limited to conventional heat treatment, applied to stabilize and intensify the hue while preserving the stone structure. The overall aesthetic reads as a vivid pink leaning toward purple, with an even saturation that reads intense under standard lighting, making this gem particularly suitable for display pieces where saturated yet lively color is desired.

From a cutting and faceting perspective this sapphire has been fashioned in a mixed brilliant cut to balance color and brilliance, crown facets executed to maximize face up flash, and pavilion faceting tuned to return light efficiently through the crown. The pear outline has been proportioned to retain a generous table while allowing a controlled pavilion depth, which together promote both strong scintillation and balanced color distribution. The mixed brilliant approach in this example emphasizes small, well defined crown facets that break up highlight contrast, and a modified pavilion schema that supports tight facet junctions and strong optical return. Facet intersections are sharp, symmetry is well maintained for the pear profile, and the girdle has been shaped to facilitate secure setting without sacrificing aesthetic integrity. The excellent polish reported on this stone enhances windowing resistance and ensures that facet reflections remain crisp, which is particularly important in a colored stone where surface finish directly affects perceived saturation and brilliance.

Clarity has been evaluated at very very slightly included when viewed at eye level, translating to minimal and well dispersed internal features that do not interrupt light transmission or color uniformity. Typical corundum inclusions such as fine silk, minute crystals, or healed fractures can contribute to an internal texture that in some cases enhances the stone personality without detracting from transparency. In this example inclusions are unobtrusive at hand viewing distance, allowing the intense pinkish purple to dominate the visual impression. From a gemological standpoint sapphire is corundum, with refractive index values that generally fall near 1.762 to 1.770, and a birefringence in the order of 0.008, attributes that underpin the strong brilliance and sharp facet reflections observed here. Specific gravity for corundum is near 3.98 to 4.06, contributing to the satisfying heft expected from a dense gem at this size. Heat treatment, as applied to this sapphire, is a trade accepted by connoisseurs and understood to produce stable color enhancement when properly performed and fully disclosed.

For a high end gemstone collection this 1.06 carat pear offers exceptional versatility, pairing strikingly with both modern minimalist settings and classic halo treatments designed to emphasize hue and outline. The vivid pinkish purple color and controlled proportions make the gem ideal for a solitary pendant to showcase color face up, or for a bespoke ring commission where the pear shape can be oriented to flatter hand lines. Provenance from Ceylon Sri Lanka adds narrative and pedigree to the specimen, reinforcing desirability for collectors who weigh origin and treatment history alongside optical quality. The Natural Sapphire Company curates pieces with strict attention to these factors, and this stone stands as a demonstrative example of balanced cutting, stable enhancement, and eye level clarity. For collectors seeking a compact yet richly saturated corundum specimen this sapphire represents a rare combination of intense color, precise cutting, and market appropriate treatment, and it is offered with the full disclosure and expert guidance that collectors expect.
