Product description

This is a beautiful transparent padparadscha sapphire weighing 1.03 carat, presented in a trillion shape that balances contemporary geometry with classic brilliance, the measured dimensions are approximately 5.90 by 6.58 by 3.86 millimeters, the gem is cut in a mixed brilliant style which combines a faceted crown with a pavillion designed to maximize scintillation, the clarity grade has been assessed as very very slightly included, evaluated at eye level, the color intensity is judged intense, and the stone displays an excellent polish, importantly this sapphire has received no enhancement, and its origin is Ceylon, Sri Lanka, an origin long associated with some of the finest padparadscha examples in the market.

For an educated buyer the grading details are central to understanding value, the padparadscha designation refers to a rare and desirable pinkish orange to salmon rose hue that sits between pink and orange on the sapphire color spectrum, intense color intensity at this size means the stone shows strong saturation without appearing too dark, the transparency and the mixed brilliant cut deliver lively light return and a lively face up appearance which is especially attractive in the trillion shape, very very slightly included at eye level indicates that inclusions are minimal and do not detract from brilliance or durability under normal wear, excellent polish enhances the crispness of facet junctions and contributes directly to perceived brightness, taken together the combination of an untreated origin from Ceylon, an intense natural padparadscha color, a mixed brilliant cut, and a high clarity grade make this stone technically desirable and visually compelling.

Durability is often the deciding factor for daily wear, sapphires are corundum and rate nine on the Mohs scale of hardness, this places them among the hardest gemstones suitable for everyday use, the inherent toughness of corundum means resistance to scratches from most materials encountered in daily life, however the trillion shape presents three points that can be more susceptible to mechanical impact than rounded silhouettes, for daily wear we recommend protective mounting strategies such as a bezel setting that wraps the stone perimeter, or a well designed prong setting that reinforces each point and keeps the profile low to reduce catching, in a ring the gem can be set with partial bezel cups or double prongs at the corners to protect vulnerable tips, cleaning is straightforward with warm soapy water and a soft brush, avoid harsh chemicals and prolonged exposure to extreme heat, when in doubt have the setting and stone inspected professionally before using ultrasonic cleaners, periodic checks to ensure prongs remain secure will help maintain the stone for a lifetime of wear.

From a value and provenance perspective this sapphire is notable, padparadscha color is rare and prized by connoisseurs for its delicate and unusual hue, the fact that this 1.03 carat stone is transparent, untreated, and originates from Ceylon contributes significantly to its market standing, Sri Lanka has a long documented history of producing padparadscha and the regional geology imparts a particular color character that knowledgeable buyers recognize and seek, the absence of enhancement preserves the natural state of the sapphire which appeals to collectors and those buying for long term retention of value, the mixed brilliant cut and excellent polish mean that light performance is optimized which enhances both beauty and perceived size, at The Natural Sapphire Company we emphasize accurate descriptions and responsible sourcing, we can assist with independent gemological certification and bespoke mounting options to create a setting that both showcases the intense padparadscha color and protects the trillion points for daily wear, this stone is well suited to an engagement ring, a statement pendant, or a custom design where the combination of rarity, untreated origin, clarity, and durability will be appreciated by an informed buyer.
