Product description

This 0.35 carat round white sapphire is presented with transparent clarity and carefully measured proportions, dimensions of 4.08 by 4.09 by 2.91 mm, a mixed brilliant cut, near colorless color intensity, and an excellent polish, originating from Montana and enhanced by heat treatment. At face up viewing the stone reads as near colorless, offering a cool neutral canvas that favors brightness over any warm or cool bias, and the high degree of transparency ensures that light transmission is clean and direct. The mixed brilliant cut combines a brilliant style crown with a controlled pavilion faceting scheme, and this hybrid approach preserves weight while maximizing scintillation and contrast. The overall hand finishing is precise, with facet junctions aligned to produce crisp light return, and the polish quality is such that internal and external reflections remain sharp, rather than diffused, even under direct lighting. The Natural Sapphire Company provides this gem with a full description of the enhancement and origin, so the technical buyer can assess its place within a collection or as a calibrated center or accent gem.

The mixed brilliant faceting architecture is where this stone shows a deliberate balancing of angles and facet counts, crown facets cut to disperse light while the pavilion facets deliver depth and persistence of flash. The shallow to moderate crown slope in combination with a deep pavilion produces a depth ratio of approximately seventy one point three percent when comparing the measured depth to the average diameter, and this geometry results in a lively face up presence with concentrated scintillation zones and a modest degree of windowing toward the table. The table facet is proportioned to allow clean viewing into the pavilion, enabling internal features to act as contributing elements to the gem character rather than obscuring brilliance. The execution of the mixed brilliant concept in a small, under half carat stone is technically demanding, because excessive pavilion depth or uneven facet angles can lead to light leakage or dulling, yet this piece retains an agile balance of contrast and white light return. For setting considerations, the cut allows for close bezel seats or precision prong work, while maintaining optical performance in ring, pendant, or earring applications.

Clarity evaluation at eye level results in a grade of very very slightly included, and the internal landscape is what gives this Montana sapphire its unmistakable signature. Under loupe or direct viewing there are minute, isolated crystal inclusions, tiny negative crystals creating tiny void reflections, and delicate planar features that read as healed feathers or lacelike fissures. These inclusions are distributed in a manner that forms subtle radial and petal like patterns when illuminated, producing a small scale starburst effect internally as each pavilion and crown facet mirrors the minute reflective centers. In addition there is faint growth zoning visible along some facet junctions, with narrow banding and orientation changes that correlate with the crystallographic growth directions of corundum. The inclusions are not detrimental to durability, and in many respects they are diagnostic, because their morphology and arrangement are consistent with alpine alluvial and placer derived sapphires commonly sourced from Montana. Heat treatment has reduced localized color centers and improved overall transparency, and the treatment has also produced subtle rounding and glassy healing on fractures, which in turn enhances light propagation while leaving the inclusion pattern intact and identifiable to a trained eye.

From a practical and curatorial perspective this inclusive pattern confers authenticity, character, and a tactile signature that differentiates this white sapphire from synthetic or overly aggressively treated material. The stone is ideal as a precision accent in multi stone layouts, a small but brilliant center in a minimalist engagement ring, or as a calibrated gem for bespoke designs where provenance and natural signature are valued. Because the gem is natural corundum with standard heat enhancement only, it exhibits the hardness and chemical stability expected for everyday wear, and routine professional cleaning will maintain its polish and optical performance. The Natural Sapphire Company stands behind the detailed technical description and origin statement supplied with this gem, and collectors should note that the internal features contribute to both identification and beauty, creating a living fingerprint that only natural stone can display, a fingerprint that becomes more apparent and more attractive as light and faceting interact over time.
