Product description

Introducing an exquisite gem of remarkable allure, a transparent 2.78 carat pear shape color change sapphire, masterfully crafted with dimensions measuring 10.03 x 7.07 x 4.94 mm. This gem is a testament to the unparalleled beauty that nature and skilled craftsmanship can produce, standing as a piece that appeals to the discerning eye. With its mixed brilliant cut, this sapphire captures light wondrously, offering a stunning dance of colors that shifts with every glance. The clarity grade is evaluated as very slightly included at eye level which speaks to its exceptional quality. It subtly displays minor inclusions that do not detract from its splendor, maintaining a level of purity that is both captivating and rare. Moreover, its intense color intensity is a standout feature, offering a vibrant display that transitions gracefully from one hue to another.

Originating from the famed region of Ceylon, now known as Sri Lanka, this sapphire carries with it a rich history. Sri Lanka has been known for centuries as one of the premier sources of high-quality sapphires, yielding gems that have adorned royalty and collectors alike. The vibrant hues and extraordinary clarity of Ceylon sapphires have marked them as some of the most sought after in the world. This particular piece embodies the hallmark characteristics that make Ceylon sapphires so coveted: an intense color palette, excellent clarity, and exceptional brilliance. Such origin not only adds to the gem's inherent value but also assures buyers of its top-notch authenticity and origin. The skillful cutting of this gem also enhances its inherent beauty, evident in its excellent polish that reflects a mirror-like surface, allowing every facet to showcase its mesmerizing play of color and light.

The phenomenon of color change in sapphires elevates this gemstone into a category of its own. This gem transitions between different hues depending on the light source. In natural sunlight, the sapphire might present itself with one color, then shift to another under incandescent light, offering an ever-changing spectacle. This characteristic makes the color change sapphire a dynamic piece of jewelry that draws attention and admiration. As a symbol of excitement and mystique, it becomes a versatile gem, perfect for those who desire variety and uniqueness in their jewelry. The striking effect is not just visually fascinating, it also signifies the allure of nature's secrets captured within a gem. It's a testament to the wonders hidden within the depths and layers of our planet, revealed only upon close inspection.

Apart from its visual appeal, this sapphire is also steeped in metaphysical lore and believed healing properties. Gemstones with the ability to change color like this are often associated with creativity and imagination. The sapphire is said to unlock creativity and stimulate insight. Many believe it assists in achieving clarity of thought, enhancing one's intuitive abilities and awakening the senses. It is often used in meditation practices, promoting calmness and tranquility, seen as an aid in dispelling negative energies and emotional blockages. Additionally, in healing traditions, it is touted to be beneficial for alleviating physical ailments and balancing the body's chakras. While such claims align with historical gemstone lore, they contribute to the charm and interest of the piece for those who value holistic wellness alongside beauty.

At The Natural Sapphire Company, we pride ourselves on offering gems of the highest caliber. The color change sapphire is not only a testament to our commitment to quality but also to the exquisite wonders that our planet can provide. Whether you are a seasoned collector or a new enthusiast, this sapphire is bound to add significant value to your collection. Positioned at the intersection of beauty, rarity, and history, it embodies everything a gemstone should be: a timeless treasure that holds both intrinsic and sentimental value. For the educated buyer, investing in such a gem is not merely a purchase but a thoughtful acquisition that promises enduring elegance and appreciation. At The Natural Sapphire Company, we ensure that every gem you acquire is a part of this magnificent narrative, offering a legacy of splendor and wonder with every piece.

The halo style ring setting centers on a primary gemstone embraced by a continuous ring of smaller stones, engineered to amplify apparent diameter and light return, producing a strong, eye catching silhouette. In this configuration the center may be a pear shaped sapphire, ruby, emerald, or a custom faceted gemstone, each stone type demanding a distinct approach to faceting and seat geometry. Round brilliant side diamonds are specified for the halo, typically cut to 57 or 58 facets to optimize scintillation and fire, and graded to customer preference for color and clarity. For colored centers, the cutter will prioritize pavilion and crown proportions that maximize saturation and windowing control, applying mixed cuts for sapphires and rubies when increased brilliance is desired, and step cutting with larger table facets for emeralds when color depth is the priority. The halo stones are calibrated to match optical properties and table alignment, the result being a uniform scintillation pattern that frames the center without overshadowing its hue and presence.

Material selection and craftsmanship are critical to the performance and longevity of the halo design, and this setting is offered in 14K rose gold, 14K white gold, 18K white gold, 14K yellow gold, 18K yellow gold, Platinum 950, and two tone options in 14K and 18K white and yellow gold. Platinum 950 provides superior density and resistance to wear, making it an excellent choice for securing high value stones and for clients seeking minimal maintenance on prong seats, while 18K alloys deliver richer hue and a slightly softer working characteristic for intricate antique filigree. The halo is executed using micro bead pavé or shared prong techniques depending on the selected halo density, each technique established by precise bead gauges and buttressing of the pendant head to prevent diamond migration. The prong design for the center stone includes adjustable tapered prongs or a three prong basket for pear cuts, each prong mechanically formed and burnished to avoid sharp stress points, and the undergallery is pierced to create a light well, improving return of light through the pavilion and maintaining a low and comfortable profile on the finger.

Optical and tactile experience are the culmination of design decisions, the halo multiplying perceived carat and increasing crown brightness through additive face up surface area, while the round brilliant halo diamonds create scintillation vectors that draw the eye to the center. When selecting side diamond grades we recommend a balance between color and clarity to preserve contrast, for example G to H color in combination with VS to SI clarity for a bright white halo without excessive premium. For colored center stones we recommend specifying hue, tone, and saturation preferences so that the cutter can optimize facet junctions to either favor brilliance or color depth, according to whether you choose a vivid red ruby or a saturated blue sapphire. Maintenance recommendations include routine inspection of prong integrity and bead seats every six months, gentle cleaning with warm water and mild detergent to preserve rhodium plating where applicable, and professional re tightening and polishing as needed. For bespoke production we offer CAD previews, GIA or AGS certification of matched diamonds, and the option to tailor halo density, diamond sizes, and antique detailing to align with personal proportions, ensuring a ring that communicates elegance and confidence through technical refinement and meticulous craftsmanship.
