This ring centers on a transparent 1.26 carat oval bluish purple sapphire from Ceylon Sri Lanka, measuring 7.55 x 5.30 x 3.78 mm, with a mixed brilliant cut, very very slight inclusions visible only at eye level, medium color saturation, and an excellent polish. As a corundum, this sapphire rates a nine on the Mohs hardness scale, which makes it substantially more scratch resistant and durable than gemstones commonly used in similar designs on the market, such as topaz or garnet. The mixed brilliant cut and excellent polish help disperse light while preserving the integrity of the pavilion and crown, and the clarity grade VVS at eye level means fewer internal weak points that could increase vulnerability to chips. Complementing the center stone are white round lab grown diamonds in two sizes, approximately 0.052 carats and 0.028 carats, clarity Very Slightly Included, color grade F, which contribute not only brilliance but long term durability because diamond is the hardest natural material and resists abrasion far better than common accent stones.
The ring is fully set in 14K white gold, which offers a practical balance of strength and wearability when compared to other options on the market. Versus 18K gold, 14K contains a higher proportion of alloyed metals and therefore resists bending and daily wear more effectively, and versus sterling silver it is far more resistant to scratches and tarnish. Compared with platinum, 14K white gold will show surface wear over time and may need periodic rhodium plating to maintain a bright white finish, but it is less prone to the heavier patina and long term deformation that can affect thin, delicate designs from lower quality manufacturers. At The Natural Sapphire Company we set the sapphire in a secure prong and supportive gallery structure with well integrated shoulders and neatly set accent diamonds, avoiding the glue or weak bezel work sometimes seen on mass produced rings. That superior workmanship, combined with a robust choice of metal and high clarity, well cut stones, results in a ring that stands up better to everyday life, while still offering the refined elegance customers expect. For regular wear we recommend a professional inspection of prongs and occasional rhodium refresh to ensure longevity and continued security.
