This ring centers a transparent 1.25 carat round bluish green sapphire measuring 6.45 x 6.41 x 4.25 mm, cut in a mixed brilliant cut to maximize both color and light return. The mixed brilliant pavilion configuration combines a full brilliant crown with a more angular pavilion facet scheme, producing broad flashes of light while maintaining a clean face up color, and this is particularly effective in sapphires where dispersion is low. The stone has a clarity grade of very slightly included as evaluated at eye level, a very light color saturation that reads as a delicate teal influenced by Montana provenance, an excellent polish, and a standard heat treatment to stabilize and enhance tone. The mounting is fully executed in 14K rose gold with a sculpted twist shank and shoulder accents. The shoulder diamonds are white round natural stones weighing approx 0.20 carats in total, graded VS1 and VS2 in clarity and E in color, complemented by additional white round diamonds weighing approx 0.09 carats, graded VS clarity and F G in color. These diamond grades provide high contrast and crisp scintillation against the warm rose gold, with tight facet junctions and precise prong work to optimize light entry to the sapphire and side stones.
Compared to a classic full round brilliant cut, the mixed brilliant cut of this sapphire yields a different balance of optical performance, trading the pinpoint scintillation of an ideal diamond style brilliant for broader, softer flashes that enhance the perceived size and subtle color of the stone. Against step cuts such as emerald or baguette, which emphasize depth of color and clarity but return less brilliance and scintillation, the mixed brilliant retains lively return of light while still allowing the faint bluish green hue to read across the table. Versus antique cuts like old mine or mine cuts, which rely on larger, irregular facets and strong contrast patterns, this mixed brilliant offers superior symmetry and polish, producing more predictable and uniform brightness in varied lighting conditions. The combined effect is a sapphire that presents both color and life, with the surrounding E and F G color grade diamonds and VS clarity ensuring a bright, white halo that frames the center stone without overpowering its delicate Montana tone, presented with the craftsmanship and gemstone expertise of The Natural Sapphire Company.
