Product description

Millions of years ago, deep within the rich earth of Ceylon, now known as Sri Lanka, our extraordinary bi-color sapphire began its remarkable journey. It was in the heart of this lush island, blessed by nature and nurtured by time, that the gemstone silently took shape under intense geological forces. This process transformed the elements into a crystal of rare beauty and intrigue. As tectonic shifts and volcanic activities played over centuries, they created pockets of rare minerals, indispensable for the formation of such exquisite sapphires. The interaction of aluminum oxide with trace elements engendered a rare bi-color transformation, endowing our sapphire with its unique vivid hues.

As you gaze upon this 1.13 carat wonder, consider the story embedded within. The oval shape, crafted meticulously by skilled artisans, preserves the sapphire’s natural grandeur while enhancing its allure. Its dimensions of 6.96 x 5.98 x 3.38 mm are a tribute to precision and ingenuity, revealing the masterful mixed brilliant cut, embodying both tradition and innovation. The internal structure, which is very very slightly included when evaluated, stands as a testament to its authenticity and heritage. Every slight inclusion tells a tale of its primal formation, millions of years in the making.

The vibrant color intensity of our sapphire dances between multiple shades, evoking emotions and narratives. This vivid palette is a testament to the forces of nature that meticulously crafted its character over epochs. The sapphire’s excellent polish, untouched by artificial enhancements, reflects the commitment of The Natural Sapphire Company to purity and perfection. We champion gems in their most authentic form, allowing their natural splendor to lead the symphony of lights and colors they produce.

At The Natural Sapphire Company, we are honored to bring this masterpiece from the cradle of the earth to you. Each sapphire is more than just a gem; it is a connection to nature’s artistry, a story millions of years old, now ready to begin its new chapter in your life. Embrace this timeless tale, and let the sapphire’s journey become a part of yours, symbolizing resilience, beauty, and the unstoppable passage of time.

This custom made ring setting is offered in a range of precious alloys, including 14K rose gold, 14K white gold, 18K white gold, 14K yellow gold, 18K yellow gold, platinum 950, 14K white and yellow, and 18K white and yellow, and it is engineered to accept a variety of center stones such as sapphire, ruby, emerald, and other gemstones, while the side stones are diamonds cut in a round shape for consistent optical performance. The Lady Diana style, featuring a stunning oval center gemstone, often surrounded by a halo of smaller stones, exudes timeless elegance and royal charm, and while commonly associated with an oval center, this interpretation is not limited to that silhouette, the style features a substantial halo of prong set diamonds that elevates perceived center size and creates a classic, balanced profile. The halo style, featuring a center gemstone surrounded by a ring of smaller stones, enhances the brilliance of the central gem and creates a striking, eye catching effect, and the use of uniformly round, prong set diamonds in the halo ensures predictable light return and an even visual rhythm around the circumference. The floral style emphasizes delicate, nature inspired motifs with petal and leaf elements incorporated into the gallery and shoulders, adding a soft, romantic character to the setting that complements colored gemstones as well as traditional diamonds.

In terms of construction and specification, the ring setting is designed with a robust prong architecture to secure the selected center gemstone while allowing optimal light entry from multiple angles, the halo diamonds are prong set to lift each stone slightly above the bezel plane for maximum exposure to light, and the round side stones are selected and matched for color and clarity to maintain harmony across the piece. The crown and gallery profiles are dimensioned to balance elegance with wearability, the basket depth is calculated to accommodate standard proportions of sapphire, ruby, emerald, and other gemstones, and the under gallery is finished to provide both visual refinement and comfort against the finger. When choosing metal, the differences in hardness and color between 14K and 18K gold, and between gold alloys and platinum 950, are taken into account to specify appropriate prong dimensions and soldering procedures, and two tone combinations such as white and yellow gold are available for clients seeking contrast between the halo and the shank.

The design and refinement process is meticulous and iterative, beginning with dimensional requirements for the chosen center gemstone and the intended halo configuration, initial concept sketches are translated into precise computer aided design models where ring proportions, prong count, and stone positions are tested virtually for structural integrity and optical balance. Prototypes are produced using high resolution 3D printing to validate the feel of the ring on the hand and the sight lines of the gallery, adjustments are made to prong thicknesses, shoulder tapering, and under gallery clearance to ensure that the setting secures the center stone without obscuring light paths. Once the prototype meets specifications, a master cast is created using investment casting techniques, each casting is inspected for surface continuity and dimensional tolerance, and prongs are lightly burnished and shaped by hand to the final geometry prior to stone setting. Diamond and gemstone setting follows meticulous protocols for seating and tension, with each round side stone checked for consistent elevation and uniform spacing within the halo, and prong tips are shaped and polished to remove burs while maintaining a secure mechanical grip.

Quality control includes microscopic inspection of prong integrity and stone alignment, verification of metal purity markings, and a final polish that respects the design language, the finished ring setting is evaluated for comfort fit and for the relationship between the chosen center stone size and halo scale to ensure the intended visual impact is achieved. Documentation of metal choice, recommended center stone specifications, and suggested side stone grades is provided to support informed selection and to preserve the design intent during stone sourcing and setting. The result is a finely engineered halo or Lady Diana inspired setting, or a floral inspired alternative, that combines considered aesthetics with practical measures for stone security and long term wearability.
