Product description

This sapphire began its story deep in the alluvial gravels of Madagascar, born from the slow patience of geological time, and found by artisanal hands that know the rivers and the rocks intimately. At The Natural Sapphire Company we trace each stone back to its place of origin, and this transparent 1.17 carat cushion shape bi color sapphire carries the imprint of its island home. Measuring 6.02 x 5.19 x 3.67 mm, cut in a mixed brilliant style, this gem shows a gentle dialogue between two tones, a clear cool blue that drifts into a soft warm yellow, with medium color intensity that gives personality without overwhelming the eye. The clarity is slightly included when evaluated at eye level, which means the stone retains excellent transparency and life, and the excellent polish elevates every facet so light can travel and return with a lively, tactile sparkle. There is no enhancement to this sapphire, so what you see is the natural result of the earth and the patient vision of skilled cutters.

Our cutters approached this bi color sapphire as a storyteller approaches a manuscript, looking for the lines of color to emphasize and the planes that would best reveal the two tones with balance and brightness. The cushion shape with mixed brilliant faceting is an intentional choice, it softens the transition between hues and creates flashes of scintillation that redraw the color map as the stone moves. The slight inclusions, being visible at eye level, give the gem character and confirm its natural origin, they do not hinder the gemological performance, and they sit beneath an excellent polish that allows clean reflections and crisp facet junctions. In a ring setting the stone will present a generous face up size for its weight, and in a pendant or pair of earrings the lightness of the blue and yellow will make the piece rhythmically luminous. Because the sapphire is untreated, metal choices and setting styles can lean on contrast to showcase the bi color nature, a delicate halo will amplify the mixed brilliance, a low bezel can protect the girdle and emphasize the cushion outline, and minimalist prongs will allow maximum light to reach the pavilion and crown.

When it comes to wearing this bi color sapphire against skin, the interplay of blue and yellow makes it remarkably versatile, and understanding undertones will help you choose the most flattering setting. On fair skin with cool undertones the cool blue will read as crisp and elegant, and a platinum or white gold setting will keep the palette refined, the pale yellow will add a whisper of warmth that prevents the look from feeling chalky. On fair skin with warm undertones the yellow tone will warm the complexion, and yellow gold will harmonize with the stone to create a soft, vintage inspired glow, letting the blue act as a captivating accent. On olive and medium skin tones both colors find a perfect meeting place, the blue offers clarity and contrast, while the yellow merges with natural warmth to create a sunlit effect, mixed metal settings or rose gold can bring out flesh tones beautifully while still allowing the blue to remain crisp. On deeper skin tones the medium color intensity gives the blue a jewel like depth and the yellow a luminous golden flash, both hues will sing against richer backgrounds, and bold settings in yellow gold will make the stone read as regal and radiant, while white metals can provide a modern, high contrast presentation. At The Natural Sapphire Company we love to advise on metal and setting choices so the bi color personality of this 1.17 carat cushion sapphire can be tailored to your skin and style, every choice from halo to solitaire will change the conversation between gem and wearer, and because this stone is natural and untreated, that conversation will be honest and lasting.
