Hand recovered by experienced miners in Sri Lanka, the rough was selected for its remarkable transparency and depth of tone. Over months of careful evaluation and cutting, the rough was transformed into an elegant oval cabochon weighing 18.08 carats, measuring 16.05 by 12.40 by 8.32 millimeters. The decision to fashion this gem as a cabochon was deliberate, to celebrate its dark color intensity and the way light pools across its domed surface. At eye level the stone reads very slightly included, a testament to its natural origin rather than any enhancement, in fact this sapphire is free of enhancement, preserved in honest, unaltered beauty.
