This 7.04 carat cushion shape purplish blue sapphire originates in the alluvial gravels of Ceylon, Sri Lanka. From its initial discovery by local miners the rough crystal was identified for its transparency and depth of hue, then transported to regional cutting studios where experienced lapidaries evaluated orientation and internal features. It was fashioned into a mixed brilliant cut to balance weight retention with optimal light performance, resulting in dimensions of 11.48 by 8.74 by 7.98 mm. The sapphire presents an intense purplish blue saturation, with clarity graded as slightly included evaluated at eye level, and it displays an excellent polish. No enhancement has been applied, a detail confirmed by our internal testing and consistent with the natural origin report, ensuring the stone remains in its natural state as it moves toward the market.
The journey to The Natural Sapphire Company begins at the mine and continues through careful sorting, cutting, and multiple stages of quality control. Each step is documented, and the stone undergoes gemological assessment to verify weight, measurements, cut style, color intensity, clarity, polish, and treatment status. Skilled cutters shaped the gem to maximize its optical return while preserving as much of the original crystal as possible, then polishers refined the facets to achieve the excellent surface finish visible in hand and loupe images. Our quality assurance team confirms origin and treatment claims before the sapphire is listed, providing transparency for clients seeking natural, unenhanced material. The result is a well proportioned cushion sapphire that communicates both the geological story of Sri Lankan gem formation and the human expertise applied in cutting and grading, presented by The Natural Sapphire Company for use in fine jewellery or as a collection grade gemstone.
