Long before human hands shaped metal into settings, this blue sapphire took form deep within the ancient rocks of Ceylon, present day Sri Lanka. Under conditions of elevated pressure and temperature, aluminum rich minerals recrystallized into corundum over millions of years, while trace amounts of iron and titanium imparted the blue hue that defines this gem. Geological processes folded, uplifted, and eroded the host layers, releasing discrete corundum crystals into the landscape where rivers and weathering sorted and concentrated them. Subsequent natural tumbling smoothed rough surfaces, and miners working traditional alluvial gravels and secondary deposits eventually recovered this particular crystal. Heat within the earth and later controlled thermal treatment enhanced its clarity and stabilized the intense blue that viewers now observe. The result is a transparent, well saturated sapphire whose color and internal structure record a long history of formation and transformation, documented by provenance from Ceylon and by expert assessment at The Natural Sapphire Company.
This example measures 2.34 carats, presented in a cushion shape with dimensions 8.16 by 5.92 by 5.44 millimeters, and it features a mixed brilliant cut that balances facet brilliance with color saturation. Clarity is graded as very slightly included when evaluated at eye level, which allows for clean visual appearance while retaining natural characteristics that confirm its identity. Color intensity is classified as intense, and polish is excellent, contributing to strong light return and vivid tone across the pavilion and crown. Enhancement heat treated, origin Ceylon Sri Lanka. The mixed brilliant proportions were chosen to maximize the stone sense of depth and to showcase the blue hue without over darkening. For use in a solitaire or a three stone composition, the stone offers a controlled spread for finger presence and consistent performance under natural and artificial lighting. The Natural Sapphire Company provides objective documentation and grading for this sapphire, and the description above reflects measured dimensions, cut style, clarity grade, treatment status, and geographical origin, presented in a factual manner for informed consideration.
