Product description

This exquisite 1.95 carat round blue sapphire from Ceylon is superbly balanced in proportion and presence, with dimensions of 7.77 x 7.66 x 4.64 mm, a mixed brilliant cut, and an excellent polish that together maximize light return and scintillation. The gem displays an intense color intensity that is evenly distributed across the crown and pavilion, and clarity is graded as very very slightly included evaluated at eye level, which means that inclusions are minimal and do not detract from the visual performance when set. This sapphire has been heat treated, a stable and widely accepted enhancement that optimizes color and clarity in natural sapphires without compromising long term integrity when handled with normal wear and proper care. For the educated buyer, the combination of nearly two carats of weight, precise round shaping, a mixed brilliant facet arrangement that enhances brilliance, intense Ceylon blue, and an excellent polish creates a gem that is both visually striking and technically desirable, and it represents the quality selection standards of The Natural Sapphire Company.

Imagine this sapphire forming millions of years ago deep within the earth under conditions of high temperature and pressure, where aluminum rich rocks underwent metamorphism and trace elements such as iron and titanium became incorporated into aluminum oxide crystals to produce blue corundum. Over geological epochs the host rocks were subjected to tectonic uplift, and weathering gradually liberated the sapphire crystals, which were transported by rivers and concentrated in alluvial gravels in what is now Sri Lanka. Time polished and sorted the crystals, and the rough that eventually reached skilled cutters was selected for its color and clarity, then faceted into the present mixed brilliant round to bring out its best optical qualities. This history of formation contributes to the gemological value of the stone, and when paired with documented origin from Ceylon and careful enhancement disclosure, it assures provenance and transparency for collectors and connoisseurs. The Natural Sapphire Company presents this stone as a refined choice for a solitaire engagement ring, a statement pendant, or a collector cabinet, offering an authentic example of natural corundum that combines geological story, technical excellence, and enduring beauty.
