Product description

This transparent 1.48 carat oval blue sapphire measures 6.73 x 5.95 x 4.77 mm, and has been fashioned with a mixed brilliant cut to balance scintillation and color depth. The stone exhibits an intense blue color intensity, an overall clarity grade of very slightly included when evaluated at eye level, and an excellent polish that enhances light return from each facet. There has been no enhancement to this sapphire, and its Tanzania origin is documented. The Natural Sapphire Company presents this gem with clear specifications to support an informed assessment, and with imagery that illustrates the stone in hand and under magnification.

The internal landscape of this sapphire hosts a constellation of minute inclusions that together form an unmistakable signature. Among these features are tiny crystal inclusions that appear as discrete points of internal reflection, and delicate needle like growth features aligned along crystallographic directions. In some facets these needles coalesce into a subtle silk like network, while in other planes isolated crystal pockets create tiny windows of light. There are faint healed fissures and narrow growth barriers that show as feathered textures under magnification. These elements are fine and well dispersed, consistent with a very slightly included grade, and they give the stone an individual fingerprint that will not be replicated in any other rough of the same size and cut.

The interplay between the inclusions and the mixed brilliant cut produces a distinctive optical behavior. The evenly proportioned oval outline and mixed faceting scheme create multiple zones of reflection, and the internal needles and crystal points scatter and diffuse light in a manner that softens contrast and produces a velvety depth to the blue. At certain viewing angles the silk like structures temper the highlights, yielding a satiny sheen across the table, while at other angles the isolated crystal facets act as minute brilliants that add pinpoint flashes. This combination preserves the sapphires intense color while introducing dimension and movement within the stone. The result is a gem that reads as richly saturated and lively, with a natural complexity that is both subtle and identifiable.

From a gemological perspective, the presence and character of these inclusions are informative. The pattern of needles, isolated crystals, and healed fissures is consistent with natural corundum growth, and the absence of indicators of treatment complements the documented no enhancement status. The inclusion pattern aligns with known material from Tanzanian deposits where a range of growth textures and fine silk are commonly observed. The very slightly included clarity at eye level means the features are discreet in normal wear, yet they remain valuable markers for identification and provenance when examined under loupe or microscope. The excellent polish and well executed mixed brilliant cut minimize surface disturbances and provide stable, durable facet junctions suitable for daily wear.

This sapphire is well suited to a variety of mounting styles where the balance of color and internal character can be appreciated. In open settings the table and crown facets will present the satiny depth and pinpoint flashes, while bezel and halo settings can emphasize the stones intensity and protect the girdle. Routine care with gentle cleaning and avoidance of harsh chemicals will preserve the polish and optical qualities. For those seeking documentation, The Natural Sapphire Company can provide detailed grading information and photographic records that highlight the inclusion features described here. The gem offers a refined, natural signature that reflects its Tanzanian origin, and it stands as a clear example of how internal features contribute to the individuality and enduring appeal of natural sapphires.
