Product description

This is a beautiful, transparent 1.14 carat radiant shape greenish blue sapphire, expertly cut and ready to become the centerpiece of a fine jewelry creation. The stone measures 6.72 by 4.79 by 3.23 millimeters, displaying well balanced proportions that suit both ring and pendant settings. The radiant cut emphasizes both step and brilliant facets, giving a pleasing mix of broad flash and lively scintillation. Clarity is graded slightly included when evaluated at eye level, which means the inclusions are minimal and do not distract from the gem at a normal viewing distance. Color is medium intense, a lively greenish blue that captures the classic Ceylon personality without becoming too dark or too pale. The polish is excellent, producing a glassy, mirror like finish across every facet. Importantly this sapphire has no enhancement, a natural, untreated gem from Ceylon, Sri Lanka, and the provenance and craftsmanship are backed by The Natural Sapphire Company.

When you compare this untreated Ceylon sapphire to other stones commonly available on the market the differences are clear. Many sapphires are heat treated or otherwise enhanced to artificially deepen color, while synthetics and commercially produced stones can mimic beauty but lack natural origin and rarity. This sapphire’s medium intense greenish blue hue is naturally occurring, which collectors and thoughtful buyers prize for its authenticity and long term value. Compared with similar weight stones from Madagascar or Australia that often show very dark or very gray tones, Ceylon sapphires typically offer a brighter, more luminous blue family, and this piece exemplifies that lively personality. Against aquamarine or spinel alternatives, this sapphire brings greater durability and a richer color saturation, while offering a price performance advantage over Kashmir or Burmese blue sapphires which command much higher premiums. The radiant cut separates itself from cabochon, cushion, or round cuts found in lower cost inventory, because its faceting pattern maximizes both face up color and surface brilliance, making the stone read larger and more vibrant in jewelry.

How this sapphire behaves under different lighting conditions is among its most engaging qualities. In bright daylight or open sun the medium intense greenish blue will read at its most vivid, with the radiant cut producing strong flashes of blue and green as the stone moves. The excellent polish ensures crisp facet reflections, while the transparency allows light to travel through the pavilion and return as lively brilliance. Under cloudy daylight or softer northern light the stone leans toward a gentler teal character, the green notes becoming more apparent while maintaining attractive depth. Incandescent and warm halogen lights coax the warmer greenish undertones, producing a rich, welcoming glow that flatters skin tones, while cool LED lights emphasize the bluer aspect and crisp internal reflections. In fluorescent retail lighting the stone will show high contrast facet sparkle, and under candlelight or low warm light it will take on a velvety, more intimate personality where the medium intensity prevents it from appearing washed out or lifeless. Slight inclusions in this slightly included clarity grade occasionally act as tiny prisms that catch and scatter light, creating subtle internal flashes rather than detracting from the overall brightness. The result is a gem that is versatile across modern lighting environments, offering different but always attractive presentations depending on context, which many buyers find emotionally satisfying and interesting in daily wear.

Choosing this sapphire for a commission or fine jewelry purchase means selecting a stone that balances rarity, wearability, and aesthetic appeal. The radiant cut works exceptionally well in a variety of settings, from timeless solitaire rings to haloed engagement pieces and elegant pendants, because it reads larger face up for its carat weight, and because its shape complements both modern and vintage inspired designs. For metal pairing, yellow gold will draw out and warm the greenish tones, creating a classic, organic look, while white gold or platinum will emphasize the blue component and deliver a cool, contemporary presentation. Because corundum rates a 9 on the hardness scale it is well suited to daily wear, offering far greater toughness than many alternative colored stones, and with simple care such as occasional warm soapy water and a soft brush it will maintain its brilliance. Choosing a natural, unenhanced sapphire from Ceylon through The Natural Sapphire Company also secures documented provenance and the peace of mind that comes with an ethical source and expert grading. If you seek a sapphire that stands apart from treated and synthetic alternatives, that pairs natural rarity with excellent cutting and polish, and that will present beautifully under every kind of light, this 1.14 carat radiant greenish blue from Ceylon is an exceptional candidate.
