0.79 Ct. Blue Sapphire from Ceylon (Sri Lanka)

This 0.79 carat round blue sapphire began its story deep in the ancient terrains of Ceylon, where rains and time coaxed corundum crystals from rock seams, and where generations of miners have learned to read the land for the richest pockets. Hands skilled in traditional Sri Lankan mining techniques extracted rough stones that carried the island dusk within them, and this particular crystal was selected for its transparent body and vivid blue that seemed to hold both ocean depth and sky clarity. Back in our cutting studio the rough was examined, mapped and thoughtfully placed under the blade, the cutter choosing a mixed brilliant cut to balance scintillation and saturation, preserving the way light dances through the pavilion while accentuating that signature Ceylon blue.
