This week we will turn our attention to another special jewelry type: promise rings or pre-engagement rings.

Promise rings are given to a romantic partner and signifies your special bond and commitment. Promise rings are sometimes worn on the left ring finger just like a traditional engagement ring, however this is a personal choice.

Promise rings are actually not a modern idea. Promise rings were traditionally given when a man could not yet afford marriage, so the promise ring was given as a placeholder until the marriage could be arranged.
