Auld Lang Syne, indeed!

I’m Helen, The Natural Sapphire Company‘s most recent hire, and my duties here include everything from writing product descriptions to editing our web content.  This is my first post here at NSC’s blog, and I can’t tell you how happy I am to be writing it.  Fitting that it should concern the new beginnings marked by the beginning of a new year!

The New Year is more than just another festive occasion.  There are plenty of times to party … but on New Year’s, we celebrate the passing of the old year and the advent of the year to come.  Accordingly enough, we’ve accumulated numerous traditions in association with the new year: we have strong beliefs about what we eat, what we do, and, most certainly, what we wear ….

In his suggestions for 2010, for New Year and beyond, astrological expert Guruji Shrii Arnav recommends a variety of gemstones.

Yellow sapphires are said to promote prosperity – especially desirable this year of all years. But, no matter what, their sunny yellow color will improve your disposition!

Blue Sapphires for Capricorns and Aquarius:

Blue sapphires are associated with mental clarity: many cultures believe that to meditate upon the blue of the sapphire will promote peace and tranquility, among other things.  Certainly, a dose of cerulean beauty can’t hurt in those pursuits ….

And any sapphires at all will apparently work for Pisces (being a Pisces myself, this makes me rather happy).  It means there’s a choice between padparadscha and purple, black stars and luminous clear shining white sapphires, all with their own properties and associations, a rich history well worth exploring.
