3.13 Ct. Orangish Yellow Sapphire from Ceylon (Sri Lanka)

This transparent 3.13 carat radiant shape orangish yellow sapphire measures 9.28 x 7.02 x 4.79 mm, exhibiting a radiant cut that marries the scintillation of a brilliant facet pattern with the clean geometry of step facets. The pavilion and crown are engineered to optimize light return and color saturation while preserving weight, the truncated corners increasing durability without sacrificing spread. Clarity is evaluated as very very slightly included at eye level, with minor pinpoint and feather characteristics that are visually unobtrusive and do not interrupt the overall transparency or performance of the stone. Color presents as orangish yellow with medium color intensity, a balance that allows lively light return and distinct hue without appearing overly dark or washed out. The polish is excellent, producing crisp facet junctions and high facet sheen, which accentuates the faceting architecture and enhances visual depth. This sapphire has been heat treated to stabilize and refine the hue, a standard, controlled enhancement that improves color uniformity and minimizes silk, while retaining natural character and durability. Origin is Ceylon Sri Lanka, a provenance known for producing highly sought after yellow and orangish yellow sapphires with clean saturation and an appealing luminous tone.

The journey of this sapphire from mine to market reflects a series of precision interventions designed to maximize both optical performance and intrinsic value. Extracted from a Ceylon alluvial deposit, the rough was hand sorted by experienced miners, then evaluated by our lapidary team using inclusion mapping and optical orientation to determine the optimal cutting axis for color and clarity. A preform stage conserved weight while positioning key inclusions toward pavilion areas, then the stone was transferred to an expert cutter who executed the radiant design with exacting symmetry, facet proportions and crown angles to achieve the intended balance of brilliance and color. Heat treatment was carried out in a controlled laboratory environment to eliminate turbidity and enhance tonality, followed by a meticulous repolish to restore facet crispness. Final gemological assessment and measurement were performed by The Natural Sapphire Company, confirming carat weight, dimensions, clarity as very very slightly included evaluated at eye level, medium color intensity, excellent polish, and Ceylon origin. Presented now as a refined 3.13 carat radiant sapphire, it is ready for mounting where its engineered cut and natural provenance will reward a discerning connoisseur.
