This 2.50 carat oval shape orangish yellow sapphire measures 9.11 by 7.11 by 4.65 mm, is faceted, and displays a mixed brilliant cut designed to balance optimal light return with saturation preservation. The mixed brilliant pavilion and crown coupling concentrates scintillation while maintaining a generous table to present the intense color intensity in a face up view. Clarity is evaluated at very very slightly included at eye level, which combined with an excellent polish produces clean facet junctions and minimal surface scattering. Heat treated to enhance hue and transparency, this Tanzanian origin sapphire benefits from improved optical homogeneity without overtly altering the natural corundum structure. The cutting proportions were executed to minimize windowing and to enhance the stone's internal reflections, resulting in crisp, repetitive flashes from the crown and well defined contrast between light and dark facets. The Natural Sapphire Company offers this stone with precise measurements and a cutting report that confirms the mixed brilliant faceting strategy and the superior polish grade.
When compared to other gemstones in the same technical category, this orangish yellow corundum exhibits reflective qualities characteristic of high quality sapphire, including a high refractive index of approximately 1.762 to 1.770 and low dispersion of roughly 0.018. These optical constants yield strong light return and brilliant sparkle, though with less fire than diamond which has a much higher refractive index and dispersion. Against other yellow gemstones commonly used as alternatives, such as citrine or yellow topaz which have refractive indices near 1.55 to 1.64 and noticeably lower luster, this sapphire produces a denser, more saturated face up appearance and crisper facet reflections. Compared to spinel which typically has an RI around 1.72, the sapphire shows marginally greater brilliance and a firmer window resistant pavilion, and compared to tourmaline with its lower RI and stronger pleochroism, this sapphire offers more uniform light return and steadier color across viewing angles. The mixed brilliant cut amplifies the corundum s natural advantages, delivering lively scintillation and robust mirror like reflections, making this stone particularly well suited for settings where both color intensity and optical performance are critical.
