Product description

From the ancient soils of Ceylon Sri Lanka to the careful hands that shaped it, this yellow sapphire tells a story of time and craft. Formed deep within the earth, heated and pressured over millions of years, the rough crystal was discovered by experienced miners who have worked these legendary deposits for generations. At The Natural Sapphire Company we take pride in connecting that geological history with contemporary jewelry design, and this stone is a fine example. The gem weighs 0.97 carat, it is a pear shape with dimensions of 6.54 x 4.93 x 3.64 mm, it is transparent with a light color intensity, and it presents an eye clean clarity when evaluated at eye level. Those qualities give the gem a luminous, approachable personality, a warmth that catches light without overpowering, and a presence that reads as both classic and modern.

The transformation from rough to radiant is where the human story meets nature. Skilled artisans shaped this sapphire into a mixed brilliant cut, balancing the facets to maximize scintillation while preserving carat weight and the stone integrity. The cutter worked to enhance the pear silhouette so that the point and the curve sit in proportion, offering a graceful drop that flatters the finger and the neckline. An excellent polish elevates the final surface quality, giving the stone a silky, reflective finish. This sapphire has been heat treated, a long established and widely accepted enhancement that intensifies color and clarifies inclusions in a stable and permanent way. At The Natural Sapphire Company we document such treatments and evaluate origin and quality with care, so you know what you are receiving, and you can appreciate both the natural formation and the considered human intervention that brought the gem to life.

Durability is a key part of the story when choosing a gem for an everyday piece or an heirloom. Sapphire ranks 9 on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness, second only to diamond which is 10. That means this sapphire is highly resistant to scratches during normal wear, and it will hold up much better than many other gemstones. For comparison, topaz is 8 on the Mohs scale, quartz is 7, and many emeralds fall around 7.5 to 8 with variable toughness due to inclusions. The high hardness of sapphire makes it an excellent choice for engagement rings and pieces that see frequent wear, and the excellent polish and eye clean clarity of this particular stone enhance both its sparkle and its resilience. Simple care will keep the gem looking its best, occasional cleaning with mild soap and warm water, and gentle drying with a soft cloth will preserve its brilliance. If you would like, The Natural Sapphire Company can advise on settings that protect the bow and the point of the pear shape, ensuring the stone is both showcased and safeguarded.
