Product description

One beautiful transparent 1.27 carat oval, bi color, parti sapphire from historic Ceylon awaits as a living fragment of gemological history, presented by The Natural Sapphire Company. This gem measures 8.00 x 5.72 x 3.50 mm, is finely faceted with a mixed brilliant cut, and offers a clarity graded very slightly included, evaluated at eye level, with medium color intensity and an excellent polish. Heat treated to accentuate its clarity and balance of hue, the stone reveals a poetic interplay of soft cornflower blue and gentle golden green, a dichroic whisper that has long enchanted collectors and connoisseurs. The mixed brilliant faceting enhances its internal light return, allowing the dual tones to shimmer like an heirloom textile, an artifact that links the modern wearer to centuries of Ceylonese mining and trade. This sapphire carries the calm dignity of island origins, a timeless voice that harmonizes with classic settings, and a presence suited to those who prize legacy, provenance, and the quiet authority of a well chosen gem.

When compared to sapphires from other storied locations, this Ceylon parti sapphire offers a distinct and nuanced character. Kashmir sapphires are celebrated for a deep, velvety cornflower blue and a richer, more saturated tone, while Burmese stones often present a royal, vivid blue with higher saturation and intensity. Australian sapphires tend to show a darker, inky blue green tone that conveys drama rather than subtlety. Montana and some North American parti sapphires share the delicate pastel and zoned hues that echo this gem, but Montanas commonly lean toward paler steel blue and apple green notes, with a softer luminosity. Madagascar produces lively, sometimes intensely blue sapphires that can rival Sri Lankan stones for brilliance, yet lack the particular, historic harmony of blue and golden zoning frequently seen in classic Ceylon examples. This stone, with its medium intensity and transparent body, sits comfortably between the robust saturation of Burmese and Kashmiri examples and the gentle, pastoral palettes of Montana and Madagascar, making it an enduring choice for an heirloom piece, a jewel that honors tradition while remaining eminently wearable for a new generation.
