Product description

Millions of years ago, deep within the ancient crust beneath what is now Ceylon Sri Lanka, this sapphire began its quiet slow journey. Under immense heat and pressure, aluminum rich minerals and traces of iron and titanium crystallized in cavities of metamorphic rock, seeding a crystal that would take shape over geological time. Tectonic shifts and the slow dance of continents delivered bursts of silica rich fluids and subtle changes in chemistry, producing zones of contrasting color within the same crystal. Over epochs, fractures healed, atoms rearranged, and clarity improved until the crystal stood translucent and patient, waiting to reveal the unique bi color personality that would one day catch the light. The result is a transparent, 1.16 carat emerald cut bi color parti sapphire that carries the memory of molten earth and slow cooling in every facet.

When the rough reached the surface, it entered the long human chapter of its life, in the gem markets and workshops for which Sri Lanka is renowned. Mined in the river gravels and alluvial deposits that have produced Ceylon sapphires for centuries, this stone crossed from creek beds to careful hands, each step guided by experience and respect for the land and its traditions. At The Natural Sapphire Company we document its origin as Ceylon Sri Lanka, and we are proud to honor the cultural heritage embedded in that name. The rough was evaluated and stabilized through expert heat treatment to bring forth the intense color that sleeps in the crystal lattice, a standard and well understood enhancement that deepens and balances hue without compromising the stone’s integrity. Cut in a classic emerald cut with precise faceting and an eye clean clarity grade evaluated at eye level, this gem measures 6.93 x 5.05 x 3.78 mm. The cutter took care to preserve the parti color play, aligning facets to showcase the soft yellow to green transition and the cool bluish notes that appear at certain angles, creating a living canvas of color. The polish was brought to an excellent finish, allowing each plane to reflect light with crispness and a refined brilliance that belies the stone’s modest size.

Now set into its final form, this sapphire carries stories of deep time and human artistry to become a jewel ready for life. The emerald cut emphasizes the stone’s clarity and the elegant step facets allow the bi color character to shift as the wearer moves, offering discreet mystery rather than fleeting flash. Its 1.16 carat weight makes it versatile, ideal for a refined solitaire setting that highlights its geometric grace, or as the centerpiece in a custom design that frames its dual tones with complementary metals and accent stones. Beyond aesthetics, sapphires from Ceylon have long been associated with royalty and protection, woven into local lore and global admiration, and this stone is a modern heirloom from that lineage. At The Natural Sapphire Company we pair such gems with thoughtful craftsmanship and transparent information, so you know the gem’s origin, its enhancement method as heat treated, its cut style as faceted emerald cut, and its clarity and polish attributes. If you imagine this sapphire as part of a proposal, a celebration, or a private treasure, it brings with it the steady patience of geological time and the skill of generations of artisans, ready to begin its human story on your hand.
