This listing describes a transparent 0.34 carat oval bi color parti sapphire, with dimensions of 5.35 x 4.06 x 2.04 mm. The stone is faceted in a mixed brilliant cut, graded as very slightly included at eye level, with medium color intensity and an excellent polish. There has been no enhancement, and the sapphire is from Ceylon Sri Lanka. The mixed brilliant cutting style balances pavilion facets for light return with crown facets for scintillation, a particularly suitable approach for a smaller oval to achieve both even color distribution and lively surface sparkle.
Reflective behavior of this bi color parti sapphire is influenced by corundum optical properties, chiefly its refractive index and modest dispersion. Corundum presents a vitreous lustre and a refractive index that yields clear, bright reflection rather than pronounced fire, and this specimen is consistent with that profile. Compared to single tone Ceylon sapphires, which often show a higher degree of overall brilliance due to more uniform color, a parti sapphire displays alternation between zones of color that creates dynamic contrast under changing light. This contrast can appear to enhance perceived sparkle, as light reflecting at boundaries between color zones produces varied return and scintillation. Relative to classic cobalt blue Ceylon material, the parti stone may show less continuous surface flash, but more interesting facet to facet interplay, particularly with the mixed brilliant arrangement.
Within the wider category of natural sapphires, this Ceylon parti example differs from Kashmir type stones that tend to exhibit softer, velvety diffusion of light, and from darker Australian material that can appear deeper but less reflective. The excellent polish and very slight inclusions allow efficient light return in this stone, and the mixed brilliant cut maximizes both brilliance and colour play for its size. Because the gemstone is unenhanced, its reflective qualities are entirely natural, providing predictable behavior under different light sources. The presentation and specifications here are provided by The Natural Sapphire Company, with attention to clarity, cut, origin, and treatment status to allow informed assessment of how this sapphire will perform visually in finished settings.
