One translucent 1.06 carat oval purple star sapphire, measuring 6.67 x 5.56 x 2.96 mm, has been shaped to a smooth cabochon to maximize its optical effect and surface finish. The gem exhibits medium light color intensity with even color distribution across the dome, and an excellent polish that produces strong surface luster. Clarity is graded as slightly included when evaluated at eye level, with a small number of internal features that are visible but do not significantly detract from the overall appearance. No enhancement has been applied to this stone, and its origin is Ceylon, Sri Lanka. This description is presented by The Natural Sapphire Company.
The specimen displays a distinct asterism that becomes apparent under directed light, with the star centered on the dome and moving predictably with changes in angle and illumination. The asterism is generated by oriented inclusions that interact with light within the translucent body of the sapphire, producing a clean and well defined star against the purple background. The combination of cabochon profile, polished surface, and medium light color intensity makes the star readily observable under standard viewing conditions. Given its dimensions and dome height, the gem is well suited for settings that display the top face, such as a bezel mounted pendant or a protective bezel ring, where the star can be viewed and preserved. The slight inclusions contribute to the gemmatics and natural character of the stone, and they are consistent with its unenhanced, Sri Lankan provenance.
