Product description

This custom made single ring setting is offered in a choice of rose gold, white gold, yellow gold, platinum, white and yellow two tone, and yellow and white two tone, and is designed to accept a single center stone in sapphire, ruby, emerald, or other fine gemstones, offering both a classic solitaire option and a low profile flush set option as distinct finishes of the same single ring. The solitaire version presents a single striking gemstone elevated in a precisely engineered four prong basket, creating the timeless focus on a solitary center stone with simple, balanced lines. The flush set version embeds the gemstone into the axis of the band, seating the stone so that its table sits nearly even with the metal plane, producing a sleek, modern silhouette with minimal elevation. Important to note, the flush set description applies to this single ring, configured so that a straight wedding band can sit flush against the ring, preserving alignment and comfort while maintaining the integrity of a single piece rather than implying a separate channel or multi ring assembly.

The setting combines traditional handcraft and modern micro engineering to maximize light exposure and overall brilliance regardless of the metal or stone selected. For the solitaire, the prongs are drawn and shaped to narrow progressively toward the stone, minimizing visual obstruction, and the basket and undergallery are cut open with precision light wells to allow light to enter the pavilion from below and bounce back through the table and facets. The stone seat is custom cut to mirror the exact girdle profile of the chosen gemstone, lowering internal stress and ensuring maximum facet alignment for optimum return of light. For the flush set option, the seat is milled to a tight tolerance so the stone sits snugly within the metal plane, and the surrounding bezel walls are polished to act as reflective planes that channel ambient light into the crown. In both styles the metal finish is highly polished on the interior and underside to enhance internal reflection, and prong thickness and angle are chosen to balance security with visibility. When platinum is selected we recommend slightly slimmer prongs due to the metal strength, and when yellow or rose gold is chosen the warmer tone can visually deepen red and green saturations in ruby and emerald, respectively. Two tone options allow the head or gallery to be executed in a different metal to increase contrast, boost light return, and facilitate a flush fit with a coordinating wedding band.

We supply detailed guidance on gemstone selection because cut, clarity, and origin materially affect both beauty and investment value. For sapphires and rubies, which are corundum with a Mohs hardness of nine, we look for strong hue and vivid to medium to strong saturation, and clarity at the eye clean to minor inclusions level typically graded as VVS to SI depending on size and origin. Sapphires from Ceylon or Kashmir and rubies from Burma historically command premiums for saturated color and clean crystals, and we will provide laboratory reports when available. Emeralds commonly contain characteristic inclusions and are frequently clarity enhanced, and their value is driven by color intensity and transparency rather than clarity alone, with Colombian emeralds often priced for their pure green hues. For all gemstones we recommend independent certification from a reputable laboratory, and we fully disclose any clarity enhancements such as oiling in emeralds or heat treatment in corundum. Cut proportions are equally critical, and for faceted stones the pavilion depth, crown angle, and table size are specified to maximize return of light through the table in the solitaire, and to maximize apparent depth and color in the flush set. This custom made single ring setting is hand fitted to each stone, and we offer advice on matching stone hardness and lifestyle considerations, on metal choice for both aesthetics and wear, and on complementary straight wedding band profiles so that the flush set option performs as intended, sitting flush and comfortable while preserving the engineered light pathways that make the gemstone sing.
