Product description

This custom made ring setting is engineered with three complementary design philosophies to suit exacting preferences. The bezel option presents a continuous smooth metal border that completely encircles the girdle, producing a tight mechanical seat that resists lateral impact and minimizes exposure of the pavilion and girdle. This technique requires precision turning to within tenths of a millimeter so the bezel wall conforms to the gemstone profile, whether cushion, brilliant, step cut, or mixed cut, and secures stones with minimal intrusion on light return. The halo style positions a calibrated circle of melee around a central gemstone, each melee set to matching diameter and calibrated for symmetry, enhancing central brilliance by controlled secondary reflections and increasing perceived carat weight without altering faceting angles. The pavé treatment features tightly matched melee mounted in shared bead or channel micro settings, stones placed to achieve contiguous scintillation across the surface, with setting tolerances held to a few hundredths of a millimeter to avoid light leakage and to create a seamless reflective field. Available in rose gold, white gold, yellow gold, and platinum, the settings are engineered for alloy dependent hardness and thermal behavior, therefore seat geometry and milling parameters are adjusted for metal tensile strength. Center stones may be sapphire or ruby from the corundum family, emerald from the beryl family, or other gemstones, with grading considerations such as hue, saturation, tone, treatment status, and clarity informing the bezel wall height and halo spacing. For faceted stones a pavilion angle and crown height are reconciled with the setting aperture to preserve intended light performance, and for step cut stones the bezel or halo alignment is keyed to facet junctions to maintain optical symmetry.

In the workshop a master setter approaches each commission as an exercise in controlled tolerance and optical engineering. The tale begins with the jeweler examining the stone under a 10 power loupe, confirming cut proportions, crown angles, table percentage, and any clarity characteristics that will influence seat design. The seat is milled to a custom profile, then hand reamed and burnished, the bezel or halo test fitted, and micro prongs or beads are raised with precise angulation and consistent grain flow to complement the metal finish. Final polishing sequences are executed to maintain crisp bezel edges and to remove tool marks while preserving microroughness that supports light diffusion in pavé fields. Each piece undergoes metrology checks for seat concentricity and stone retention torque, then a final visual assessment for optical balance between center stone and surrounding melee. This technical rigor results in an elegant, durable ring that delivers both engineered security and refined brilliance, available for bespoke configurations in your choice of metal and center gemstone.
