Product description

When you began searching for the perfect gemstone you were looking for more than a pretty color, you wanted a story, durability, and a presence that makes a promise every time it catches the light, The Natural Sapphire Company understands those needs, and this 2.29 carat cushion shape pink sapphire answers them with confidence, dimensions 8.02 x 7.87 x 3.66 mm, faceted with a mixed brilliant cut that maximizes scintillation and fire. This transparent stone carries a vivid color intensity that reads as true pink in all lights, a clarity evaluated as slightly included at eye level which adds natural character while remaining visually clean, and an excellent polish that delivers a satiny surface and lively reflections. Heat treated to optimize its color stability and depth, and originating from Ceylon Sri Lanka, this sapphire is a refined choice for someone seeking an exceptional engagement gem, or a rare addition for a discerning collector, it is a gem that looks at home in a timeless solitaire, a detailed halo, or a bespoke setting that tells a personal story.

To imagine how this pink sapphire came to be is to travel back millions of years, into the slow and powerful geology of the earth, deep beneath what is now Sri Lanka, layers of silica poor, aluminum rich rocks were subjected to intense heat and pressure during mountain building and metamorphic events, within that crucible corundum crystals slowly grew as aluminum and oxygen atoms arranged into the dense, durable lattice that makes sapphire, trace amounts of chromium became trapped within that lattice, and it is chromium that paints the crystal with a pink hue. Over vast spans of time uplift and erosion exposed those host rocks to the surface, rivers and seasonal monsoon cycles liberated the harder corundum crystals from softer surrounding stone, the heavy gems were guided by water, sand and gravity into gravels and riverbeds where they concentrated into rich alluvial deposits, generations of miners and the patient action of weather and water revealed these precious crystals, their surfaces smoothed and their forms preserved until careful hands extracted them from ancient gravels.

What you hold in your mind now when you picture this gemstone is the meeting of nature and craft, and the way that history and human skill make a jewel ready to fulfill your needs, the cushion shape chosen for this 2.29 carat sapphire balances vintage charm with modern brilliance, the mixed brilliant cut was selected to harmonize the stone architecture with its vivid color intensity so that each facet plays with light to reveal depth and life. Slight inclusions evaluated at eye level are a reminder of this stone living its long geological life, they are not flaws that detract from its presence, they are signatures of authenticity and origin, the excellent polish announces the cutter mastery and allows the sapphire to communicate with a ring or pendant with maximum clarity and sparkle. At The Natural Sapphire Company we stand behind the provenance from Ceylon Sri Lanka, and we offer guidance on settings and care so that whether you are seeking the perfect engagement ring or a rare centerpiece for a collection your search can end here with confidence, this pink sapphire is ready to become the heirloom that begins its own story with you.
