Product description

This transparent oval pinkish purple sapphire presents a precise combination of weight, dimensions, and finish, 1.04 carat, measuring 5.79 by 5.10 by 3.97 mm, cut in a mixed brilliant style to balance brilliance and face up appearance, clarity grade included, evaluated at eye level, intense color intensity, excellent polish, no enhancement, origin Tanzania, and offered by The Natural Sapphire Company. The oval outline and mixed brilliant faceting were selected to maximize the stone's internal light performance while preserving weight and proportions. The stone is transparent, allowing light to pass and refract through its polished facets, and the intense color intensity reads consistently across the table and crown under standard viewing conditions. The clarity grade included reflects natural internal features that are visible to the unaided eye under direct observation, and those features coexist with good transparency and a lively play of light due to the thoughtful cutting geometry.

Optically, this sapphire displays a balanced saturation of pink and purple tones, a result of its trace element chemistry and internal lattice characteristics. The mixed brilliant cut combines a faceted crown that promotes scintillation with a pavilion designed to return light through the table, creating pinpoint flashes and broader flashes of color as the gem moves. The excellent polish enhances facet crispness and surface finish, reducing light leakage and improving the perceived depth of color. No enhancement has been applied to alter the stone's natural state, which means the color, clarity, and surface finish are the result of careful cutting and polishing rather than post extraction treatment. The eye level clarity designation indicates that, while inclusions are present, they do not detract from the overall transparency and do not compromise the structural integrity of the stone.

The narrative of formation for this sapphire begins deep within the continental crust beneath the region that is now Tanzania, a process that unfolded over millions of years. Under conditions of elevated temperature and pressure during regional metamorphism, aluminum rich protoliths underwent recrystallization and segregation, allowing corundum to nucleate and grow. During these prolonged periods of geological activity, fluids and heat mobilized trace elements that became incorporated into the corundum crystal lattice. These trace elements and subtle lattice distortions are responsible for the pinkish purple hue observed today. Over successive cycles of metamorphism and erosion, crystals that formed in situ were exposed to surface processes, and some were liberated into alluvial systems where natural sorting concentrated gem quality material. The result is a gem that records in its structure a deep time history, each facet reflecting conditions of formation and subsequent geological events that shaped its path from mantle influenced environments to the deposits from which it was recovered.

For practical considerations, this sapphire is suited to settings that respect its dimensions and optical properties, 5.79 by 5.10 by 3.97 mm, and its 1.04 carat weight. The mixed brilliant cut presents a lively table and crown interaction, which favors both solitaire presentations and designs where light exposure is encouraged. Given the eye level included clarity, mounting choices that protect the girdle and pavilion while allowing light through the crown will best showcase the stone. The lack of enhancement means long term stability under normal wear conditions is consistent with unaltered natural sapphires, however standard precautions against hard knocks and strong abrasive contact are recommended. At The Natural Sapphire Company, this piece is described with careful attention to its natural formation, measurable specifications, and the observable characteristics that define its appearance and handling, providing a clear factual basis for design and care decisions.
