Product description

This peach sapphire began its story many millions of years ago, buried within the ancient metamorphic rock of Ceylon, Sri Lanka, where heat and pressure coaxed aluminum and trace elements together to form a gem of subtle warmth. Local miners working in and along the old alluvial rivers uncovered rough material that had been washed down from the highlands for generations, bringing with it the small miracles of color and clarity that distinguish Ceylon sapphires. The color of this stone reads as a gentle, inviting peach, a hue that carries the tropical light of its island origin, and that medium color intensity gives it presence without overpowering. At 1.01 carat, the oval shape offers classical proportions, and its finished dimensions of 7.06 by 5.11 by 3.48 mm make it a jewel that sits close to the skin while catching the eye. This is a gem that remembers its birthplace, a small piece of Sri Lankan geology transformed by time and human care into something wearable and treasured.

When the rough reached our workshop, The Natural Sapphire Company selected the best orientation to reveal that warm peach tone while maximizing brilliance. The cutter chose a mixed brilliant cut to bring together the scintillation of a brilliant facet pattern in the crown with the elegant, elongated proportions of an oval silhouette. This cutting choice enhances the play of light through the pavilion while preserving the softness of the stone s peach, a balance that requires both experience and a sensitive hand. Careful proportional planning led to excellent polish and graceful symmetry, so that every facet interacts with light in a way that feels deliberate and refined. As a result, the gem presents as lively and luminous, with a surface that is smooth to the eye and to the touch, inviting daily wear and close admiration. The mixed brilliant cut also helps the stone to read larger than its carat weight might suggest, making the most of that 1.01 carat mass in an elegant, everyday size.

A sapphire s inclusions are its fingerprints, the natural markings that confirm it grew in the earth and not in a laboratory, and this peach sapphire is no exception. Graded at very very slightly included when evaluated at eye level, the gem appears clean to the naked eye, while its true character is revealed under magnification. Under the loupe tiny needles of silk, minute crystal inclusions, and delicate, feather like growth patterns become visible, and these are not flaws in the sense of damage, but rather the stone s history book. They whisper of the changing chemistry, the flows of mineral rich fluids, and the subtle twists of growth as the crystal formed deep underground. Inclusions can also act as geographic signatures, and the fine nature of the internal features in this sapphire is consistent with the known textures of Ceylon material. The result is a stone that combines the visual purity you want on the hand with the natural identifiers gem lovers treasure, a balance between beauty and authenticity that tells the wearer where the gem came from and how it lived before it became jewelry.

We are transparent about treatments and origins, and we disclose that this sapphire has been heat treated, a traditional and stable enhancement used to clarify and intensify color. Heat treatment is a widely accepted practice for sapphires, and when applied carefully it preserves the gem s integrity while bringing forward its best color. At The Natural Sapphire Company we pair responsible sourcing with full disclosure, and we welcome questions about certification, origin documentation, and the specifics of the treatment. This peach sapphire s medium color intensity and excellent polish make it versatile for many settings, from a delicate solitaire ring to a halo pendant where the warm peach can play against diamonds or other colored stones. For care, gentle cleaning with warm soapy water and a soft brush is ideal, and long term exposure to harsh chemicals or sustained high temperatures should be avoided to preserve both the stone and any mounting. If you would like further photos, a video, or a microscope image to see the inclusions that make this gem uniquely itself, The Natural Sapphire Company can provide detailed views and guidance so you can experience the jewel s story before it becomes part of yours.
