Product description

One beautiful transparent 0.51 carat pear shape pink sapphire awaits, it measures 7.18 by 4.71 by 2.15 millimeters, it is faceted with a mixed brilliant cut that balances scintillation and internal light return, it displays intense color intensity and a clarity grade of very slightly included when evaluated at eye level, it has an excellent polish that gives each facet crisp definition, it has been heat treated to stabilize and intensify its hue, and its origin is Ceylon Sri Lanka. This gem in a classic pear silhouette reads as both elegant and lively, a compact powerhouse of color and brilliance that stands apart from ordinary stones of similar size, the mixed brilliant cutting style combines the sparkle of modern faceting with the graceful outline of a pear shape, and the result is a gem that looks larger than its weight suggests due to efficient light performance and a well judged balance between depth and spread.

To understand the character of this pink sapphire it helps to envision its deep time narrative, imagine a portion of the earth that existed over tens of millions of years ago where aluminum rich rocks were subjected to extreme heat and pressure, in such environments aluminum oxide crystals formed slowly in the presence of trace amounts of chromium and iron, it is the chromium that imparts the pink hue in sapphires while varying concentrations of iron can shift the tone towards more mauve or more vivid pink, in Sri Lanka these crystals commonly crystallized within metamorphosed limestones and high grade metamorphic belts, over geological time tectonic motion fragmented those host rocks and released these corundum crystals into streams and river systems where they were further abraded and concentrated into alluvial deposits, the rough crystals that eventually became this pear shaped gem spent long epochs buried in river gravels and later carried to the surface by erosion, gem quality corundum like this sapphire represents a rare convergence of geochemistry, pressure, temperature, and geological timing that is measured in millions of years.

From a gemological perspective the attributes of this stone are instructive for the discerning buyer, the 0.51 carat weight places it in a category where color and cut determine desirability more than sheer size, the intense color intensity is the most valuable attribute in colored stones, and a vivid and even tone in a pink sapphire commands premium consideration, the clarity grade of very slightly included evaluated at eye level indicates that any internal features are minor and do not detract from the visual appeal, when assessed with magnification these inclusions give confidence of natural origin while remaining unobtrusive to the naked eye, the mixed brilliant cut has been executed to create strong internal reflection and dispersed fire while maintaining the pear outline that flatters both solitaire and halo settings, the excellent polish ensures precise facet junctions and bright surface reflections, regarding enhancement this sapphire has been heat treated, heat treatment is a widely accepted and stable enhancement for corundum that can both purify and improve color by removing undesired modifiers and by promoting beneficial diffusion of trace elements, responsible disclosure of heat treatment is a hallmark of trust in the gem trade and this stone carries that transparent history, for the educated buyer understanding the treatment means appreciating both the natural provenance and the work that refines the gem into a market ready jewel.

Provenance and craftsmanship add additional layers of value, this pink sapphire originates in Ceylon Sri Lanka a locality historically celebrated for producing some of the world most sought after sapphires, Ceylon stones are prized for their lively colors and excellent clarity profiles, provenance from Sri Lanka connects this gem to centuries of organized gem mining and to a well established tradition of lapidary skill, when you select this gem through The Natural Sapphire Company you are choosing an entity that documents origin, treatment and the gemological factors that matter to collectors and to connoisseurs, for use in jewelry this 0.51 carat pear will sit beautifully at the center of a refined engagement design or as a delicate statement pendant, the stone will require standard care reserved for corundum, avoid sudden temperature shocks and abrasive contact, professional settings that protect the pointed end of the pear are recommended to minimize risk, in summary this pink pear sapphire offers an exceptional combination of intense color, natural origin, careful cutting and stable enhancement, it embodies a long geological story and a modern lapidary finishing that together create a gem of enduring beauty and measurable value.
