The Natural Sapphire Company presents a C.Dunaigre certified padparadscha sapphire, a transparent pinkish orange gem weighing 2.02 carats, cushion shape, dimensions 7.10 by 6.43 by 4.53 mm. The stone is faceted with a mixed brilliant cut, combining a brilliant facet configuration on the crown with a controlled step pattern on the pavilion, a cutting strategy chosen to concentrate scintillation while preserving depth of color and weight. Clarity is graded very slightly included at eye level, meaning the internal features are minor and do not detract from face up transparency or light performance. Color intensity is vivid, and the piece exhibits excellent polish, a fine indicator of meticulous lapidary finishing and careful facet junctions. Enhancement status is none, the sapphire is natural and untreated, and the Madagascar origin contributes to its geological pedigree and trace element profile.
Millions of years ago this corundum crystal nucleated deep within the Earths crust under conditions of elevated temperature and pressure during regional metamorphism, where aluminous protoliths underwent recrystallization. Trace amounts of chromium, combined with iron and in some occurrences vanadium, produced the unique pinkish orange padparadscha hue when incorporated into the corundum lattice during growth. As tectonic uplift and erosion exposed these metamorphic terrains, secondary alluvial processes concentrated gem quality crystals into placers, from which skilled miners recovered rough material. In the hands of a master cutter the rough was studied for crystal orientation and internal habit, then shaped into a cushion outline and faceted with a mixed brilliant scheme to maximize brilliance and color distribution. The precise facet angles and pavilion depth were calibrated to harmonize the vivid color intensity with optimal light return, while the excellent polish enhances facet brightness and contrast. This gem represents a combination of rare natural color, documented certification, and technical lapidary craft, offered by The Natural Sapphire Company to discerning collectors and connoisseurs who value geological provenance, uncompromised material, and superior cutting technique.
