Product description

This transparent 0.92 carat radiant shape green sapphire measures 6.38 by 4.58 by 3.11 millimeters, presenting an elegant elongated outline with a length to width ratio of approximately 1.39 to 1. The pavilion depth of 3.11 millimeters relative to the average diameter of 5.48 millimeters produces an overall depth of about 56.7 percent, a proportion that favors an attractive face up spread while retaining sufficient depth for lively light return. The radiant form combines trimmed corners and a rectangular geometry, allowing this stone to read slightly larger on the finger than a round of equivalent weight, and the dimensions make it well suited to a single stone ring or a delicate three stone setting where the center will retain presence without overpowering the design.

The cutting and finish demonstrate deliberate craftsmanship, the radiant cut executed with well defined facet junctions and an excellent polish that produces crisp facet reflections and controlled scintillation. Radiant cuts employ a hybrid facet structure that merges step facets along the crown with brilliant style facets across the pavilion, and in this example those interactions yield a balanced mix of broad flashes and smaller pinfire scintillation. Facet symmetry is consistent with careful lap marking and alignment, which improves contrast and results in stable optical performance across viewing angles. The clarity is graded very slightly included at eye level, which indicates only minor inclusions that do not materially interrupt transparency or brilliance when set, and under magnification they appear as small pinpoint or needle features rather than cavities or fractures, so the visual cleanliness is very good for a natural, untreated appearing stone.

Color is a light green with a soft, slightly mint to olive leaning tone that is characteristic of Montana origin sapphires, a provenance known for pastel and meadow like hues rather than saturated tropical greens. The light color intensity preserves excellent brightness and allows clean visibility of the internal faceting, producing a fresh, airy appearance that complements both warm and cool mounting metals. Color in green sapphires is primarily driven by iron and sometimes vanadium, and the distribution in this piece is even with no obvious zoning, which ensures consistent color under typical lighting. This sapphire has been heat treated, a standard and stable enhancement in corundum that has been applied to reduce silk and soften directional inclusions while optimizing hue and saturation, and the result is a durable improvement that is stable under normal wear and routine jewelry maintenance.

From a durability perspective this Montana green sapphire rates a 9 on the Mohs hardness scale, placing it immediately below diamond and significantly above common jewelry gems such as quartz, which is 7, and topaz, which is 8. Hardness at this level confers strong resistance to scratching during daily wear, making the stone appropriate for rings and bracelets when set with proper protective design. Corundum also lacks perfect cleavage, which improves overall toughness relative to highly cleavable gems, though it can still chip if struck sharply at an exposed facet or table edge, so protective settings should be considered for active wear. The radiant shape with truncated corners inherently reduces the most vulnerable points, and secure four or six prong settings, or a full bezel for maximum protection, are recommended by our jewelers to balance security and light performance. Take care to advise any bench work such as stone setting or ring resizing to skilled professionals who will avoid local heating and avoid contact with aggressive abrasives.

Presented by The Natural Sapphire Company, this 0.92 carat Montana radiant green sapphire is a technically refined choice for collectors and designers who value precise proportions, clean faceting, and a light, natural green that plays well with both modern and vintage inspired settings. The combination of an excellent polish, a well executed radiant faceting scheme, and the stable enhancement of heat treatment yields a gem that is both usable and collectible, offering durable day to day performance thanks to corundum hardness, and an understated elegance that pairs with yellow gold for contrast, rose gold for warmth, or platinum for a contemporary cool palette. For clients who prefer a pastel green with a crisp faceted appearance and reliable wearability, this stone represents a compelling balance of aesthetic subtlety and technical merit.
