Pave Yellow Sapphire Ring 3.88 Ct., 14K Yellow Gold

From the cool alluvial beds of Ceylon a stone was coaxed from ancient river gravels that have produced some of the world most admired sapphires, and this oval yellow sapphire became a quiet witness to the island long sunshine and patient geology. We first saw this gem as a rough crystal, a pale lemon heart with internal life, and our gem team immediately recognized its potential to become the focal point of a refined dress ring. At 3.88 carats and measuring 10.25 by 8.77 by 5.65 millimeters, the gem was cut into an elegant oval with a mixed brilliant facet arrangement to maximize both sparkle and the soft warmth of its hue. Its clarity is slightly included when examined at eye level, which means it retains natural character without distracting from its transparency, and it shows light color saturation that reads as a luminous, sunny yellow in most light. The polish on this stone is excellent, allowing every facet to play with light, and the result is a gem that is both lively and deeply connected to its origin in Sri Lanka.

Once the sapphire arrived at our workshop, the story moved from nature to handcraft, and each step was an act of respect for the material and its provenance. There are white round diamonds weighing approximately 0.36 carats alongside a second grouping weighing approximately 0.42 carats, each stone carefully selected for clarity VS and color F G, so that the halo and shoulder embellishments sparkle with refined brilliance without competing with the central stone. The mixed brilliant cut of the sapphire pairs beautifully with the round brilliants, because the halo reflects and returns light into the center, elevating the perceived depth and fire of the yellow sapphire. Our craftsmen set each diamond by hand in 14K yellow gold, choosing prong sizes and spacing to marry security with maximum light return, and they finished the ring with a high polish that honors the gem and the gold alike.
