Wedding Set Purple Sapphire Ring 0.24 Ct., Silver

From the cobalt soil of Ceylon to the skilled hands of our workshop, this ring begins as a story of earth and craft, a 0.24 carat oval purple sapphire that carried the warmth of Sri Lanka in its hue. Cut to mixed brilliant proportions and measured at 4.40 x 3.21 x 2.14 mm, the sapphire reveals intense color saturation and an excellent polish, with slight inclusions visible only at eye level that speak to its natural origin. At The Natural Sapphire Company we trace each gem from mine to mount, and this Ceylon sapphire arrived with a clarity and tone that called for a setting that would celebrate its translucent violet fire, rather than mask it.

The silver setting is where the tale becomes tactile, a band wrought with flowing leaf and vine motifs that embrace the sapphire in a four claw head, allowing light to travel beneath and through the mixed brilliant cut. Each curve and milled contour has been carved to lift the center stone, while four white round natural diamonds, weighing approximately 0.016 carats and 0.02 carats, and graded VS1 and VS2 with an F color, are nestled into the leaf forms like dew drops on a morning petal. Their F color and very slight inclusions make them luminous companions, reflecting and refracting the sapphire without overpowering it. The gallery is open enough to amplify the stone's polish, yet detailed enough that the scrolling silver appears almost organic, a delicate coronet for the violet heart.
