Product description

This ring centers on a transparent Other certified Padparadscha sapphire weighing 1.59 carats, a cushion shape with precise dimensions of 7.18 by 5.58 by 4.34 mm, and a mixed brilliant cut that balances scintillation and color saturation. The sapphire displays intense color saturation in the distinctive padparadscha range, a harmonious salmon tone situated between pink and orange, and it has been evaluated as slightly included at eye level. Those inclusions are minimal and primarily internal, they do not materially diminish the stone s transparency or optical performance, and they are consistent with natural origin. Origin is recorded as Nigeria, an increasingly recognized source for padparadscha hue sapphires, and the facet faces carry an excellent polish that enhances brightness and ensures crisp facet junctions. The pavilion depth and crown angles have been optimized to favor return of warm tone while retaining lively dispersion, making the stone appear fuller and more saturated under both natural and artificial light.

The cutter chose a mixed brilliant faceting scheme to marry the light return of a brilliant cut with the color preservation typical of step cut elements. On the crown the modified brilliant arrangement fractures incoming light into small, lively flashes that animate the padparadscha s salmon tone, while the lower facets are arranged to control light leakage and to reduce washout that can desaturate pink orange sapphires. This approach counters the natural pleochroism often present in sapphires, by orienting the stone so that the dominant tone face is presented through the table, and by using pavilion facet angles that recycle light into the crown. The result is a gem that reads richly colored from multiple viewing angles, with measured contrast between bright facet flashes and stable body color. Girdle thickness is engineered to provide secure setting without visual bulk, the table facet size is calibrated to balance face up color with faceted brilliance, and the polish quality at the facet junctions contributes to crisp light return and minimal windowing.

The ring s mounting is entirely executed in 18K yellow gold, chosen to sympathetically warm and intensify the padparadscha hue. The design employs a raised four prong seat with a reticulated gallery and ornate openwork shoulders, featuring hand applied milgrain and delicate pierced motifs that allow light to enter the pavilion and to reveal the pavilion facet choreography. This architecture draws direct lineage from Edwardian lacework in its use of airy filigree and from late Victorian ornamental scrollwork in its surface engraving, while the elevated prong presentation evokes the structural clarity of the famous Tiffany prong concept in allowing maximum exposure of the table facet to light. Unlike mass produced cast settings the lattice and engraving on this ring are executed with traditional bench techniques, including careful hand engraving and selective soldering, producing consistent wall thickness and secure junctions where the cast meets hand finished portions. The overall proportioning keeps the crown visible above the plane of the band, preserving the gem s presence while maintaining low profile at the shank for everyday wear.

Craftsmanship and material selection make this piece a considered choice for a knowledgeable buyer, and The Natural Sapphire Company offers the documentation and gemological context to support the ring s specifications. Sapphire as a corundum family member provides superior hardness and resistance to abrasion for daily wear, while 18K gold supplies durability and a warm yellow backdrop that complements the padparadscha palette. For long term care we advise periodic inspection of prongs and the gallery, light cleaning with a soft brush and mild detergent, and professional evaluation if the piece is to undergo ultrasonic cleaning or steam cleaning, because treatment decisions depend on inclusion content and any fracture characteristics noted in the gem report. This ring will appeal to those who value technical precision in cutting and setting, and who appreciate historical references rendered through contemporary execution, offering a statement that combines the optical nuance of a mixed brilliant padparadscha sapphire with the refined openwork sensibility of period jewellery, available through The Natural Sapphire Company.
