Product description

This ring begins its story deep beneath the soils of Madagascar where heat and pressure coaxed aluminum and trace elements into a stone of uncommon personality. What emerged from that ancient geology is a certified Other bluish green sapphire, a 3.41 carat emerald cut that carries both the calm of forest depths and the clarity of a mountain stream. The stone measures 9.05 by 6.73 by 5.06 millimeters, its step facets cut to reveal a vivid color saturation that shifts subtly with the light, and an eye clean clarity that invites an unhurried gaze. The emerald cut chosen for this gem respects its natural growth, emphasizing broad, luminous planes over fiery scintillation, and the excellent polish gives each table and step a mirror finish that amplifies the gem’s saturated bluish green heart. From rough to finished gem the journey was one of restraint and reverence, conserving weight and character rather than forcing brilliance, so the finished sapphire reads as both raw and refined, a direct translation of its Madagascan origin into wearable form.

Set by the artisans at The Natural Sapphire Company, the sapphire finds a secure and elegant home in 18 karat yellow gold, a metal chosen for its warmth and its ability to complement the stone’s green-blue depth. Flanking the center are carefully graded white baguette diamonds in three groupings, totaling approximately 0.60 carats across the shoulder arrangements. The baguettes include approximately 0.36 carats, 0.14 carats, and 0.10 carats of straight, clean lines, each diamond graded Very Slightly Included at VS1 and VS2 and carrying an F color grade, so they read bright and nearly colorless against the gold. Their linear geometry echoes the emerald cut, creating a stepped transition from center stone to shank that elongates the finger while maintaining a refined silhouette. Every junction of stone to metal reflects hand finishing, from the prongs that cradle the sapphire’s corners to the channels and bezels that hold the baguettes steady, a combination of millimeter-perfect engineering and the subtle hand of a bench jeweler. The Natural Sapphire Company’s designers balanced the sapphire’s presence with the diamonds’ restraint so the overall piece reads as a modern heirloom, a ring whose story includes both the earth that made it and the hands that refined it.

When you consider durability, this design stands up admirably against many similar rings on the market but with specific tradeoffs to understand. Sapphire, a corundum, rates a nine on the Mohs hardness scale, second only to diamond in everyday scratch resistance, and its toughness generally resists chipping and abrasion better than many other colored gemstones. The emerald cut, with its broad facets and clipped corners, reduces the number of fragile points compared with a highly faceted brilliant cut, yet it presents larger flat planes that show wear if repeatedly struck. The straight edges of the baguette diamonds are less prone to snagging than sharp pointed shapes, but because baguettes sit near the shoulder they can be exposed to knocks, so their straight facets must be secured with precise mounting. The choice of 18 karat yellow gold gives the ring a rich color and generous malleability for a snug, comfortable setting, though 18 karat is slightly softer than 14 karat alloys and will show surface scratches more readily; this softness, however, makes it easier to size and repair without stressing the stones. Compared with similar designs set in platinum, the yellow gold offers warmer aesthetics and easier long term maintenance, while platinum may resist deformation better for very active wearers. In contrast to bezel or channel settings that fully protect a stone’s girdle, the four prongs used here offer a classic look and good security but will benefit from periodic inspection to ensure they remain tight. For everyday wear we recommend basic precautions, such as removing the ring for heavy manual tasks, avoiding harsh chemicals, and scheduling a routine check and professional cleaning with The Natural Sapphire Company so that prongs are assessed and the polish restored. The result is a ring that honors its Madagascan birth, showcases top quality diamonds and goldwork, and delivers durability that compares favorably with similar fine jewelry when cared for with sensible attention.
