From the earth to your hand, this marquise sapphire has a story that begins in the rugged, sun baked fields of Australia, where corundum crystals form over millions of years under heat and pressure. Our craftsmen at The Natural Sapphire Company selected this transparent 1.69 carat marquise shape blue sapphire for its rare, dark color saturation and its excellent polish, then refined the stone to dimensions of 11.66 x 5.50 x 3.33 mm with a mixed brilliant cut that honors both the raw beauty of the crystal and the precision of modern lapidary art. The gem shows very slightly included clarity evaluated at eye level, a trait that attests to its natural origin while allowing deep, velvety blue tones to shine through. Set into a 14K white gold mounting, the sapphire is embraced by a halo and shoulders of white round shaped natural diamonds, the principal melee totaling approximately 0.45 carats with additional accents of approximately 0.036 carats and 0.05 carats, each diamond graded VS clarity and F G color, chosen to provide scintillating contrast and to lift the blue center from the metal with cool, crisp brilliance.
When we speak about light performance, the marquise mixed brilliant delivers a unique visual signature that differs from other popular cuts and styles. The marquise silhouette produces an elongated play of light that draws the eye along its length, creating a graceful finger flattering effect and a bold visual presence that a round brilliant of similar carat weight will not convey. The mixed brilliant facets merge the scintillation and fire of a brilliant style with the directional flashes that more architectural cuts generate, so the sapphire displays a mix of small lively sparkles and broader, mirror like flashes. Compared to an emerald or other step cuts, which favor broad flashes and subdued sparkle, this marquise offers more scintillation and a livelier sparkle under motion. Compared to an oval or cushion, the marquise tends to emphasize directional light and intensity rather than a uniform burst, and that focused depth is enhanced by the surrounding F G color diamonds which add crisp white sparkle and visual size. The overall effect is an elegant, storytelling jewel, crafted to reveal a geological past and a refined present, a piece you will wear as a connection to nature and skilled craft.
