This 2.55 carat oval bluish purple sapphire was sourced from Madagascar and brought into The Natural Sapphire Company supply chain through a combination of local partnerships and direct field sourcing. The rough crystal was identified for its notable transparency and depth of color at the mine, and it was selected during primary sorting for its potential to yield a well proportioned faceted gem. During initial evaluation the rough was measured and documented, and a cutting plan was developed to preserve weight while optimizing color and light return. The planning phase prioritized retention of the intense bluish purple hue and the material integrity that would deliver a clean, transparent appearance in the finished stone. Careful handling at each stage from extraction to transport, supported by traceability records and routine gemological checks, ensured that the sapphire arrived at our cutting partner with its natural character intact and without treatments, documented as no enhancement.
The finished gemstone is an oval shape, faceted with a mixed brilliant cut, and precisely finished to dimensions of 8.61 x 6.99 x 4.91 mm. The cut emphasizes a balanced crown and pavilion relationship to maximize scintillation while maintaining the stone s strong color saturation and overall brightness. The gem weighs 2.55 carats, displays intense color intensity, and is graded as slightly included when evaluated at eye level, reflecting minor natural inclusions that do not materially detract from its appeal. The polish is excellent, producing crisp facet junctions and a smooth surface that enhances light performance. This sapphire remained unenhanced throughout its preparation, preserving its natural state from mine to market. Final gemological assessment and photographic documentation were completed under The Natural Sapphire Company quality protocols, and the stone is presented ready for incorporation into a range of fine jewelry settings where its vivid bluish purple tone and refined proportions will be complemented by considered metal choice and design.
