Product description

This one of a kind, transparent 1.69 carat color change sapphire presents an exceptional combination of weight, proportion, and optical character, offered by The Natural Sapphire Company. The gem is cut in an emerald shape, with exact dimensions of 7.10 by 6.19 by 3.90 millimeters, and it displays intense color intensity with a striking change between lighting conditions. Under fluorescent light the stone shows a deep bluish tone, while under incandescent light the stone shifts to a vivid violet to purple range, illustrating a true color change effect that is prized among connoisseurs. The clarity grade is described as very slightly included evaluated at eye level, and the material is transparent enough to allow even distribution of color throughout the pavilion and crown, enhancing the phenomenon rather than masking it. The polish is excellent, and the stone has not been subjected to any enhancement, preserving its natural character and minerological integrity from Madagascar, a source known for producing fine and diverse sapphires.

The emerald cut complements the color change characteristics by providing broad, flat facets that emphasize hue and tone rather than scintillation, which makes this shape particularly suitable for stones where color performance is the primary attribute. The step facet arrangement creates a lucid field that allows observers to appreciate the depth and saturation of the color as it shifts between light sources, while the precise facet junctions from the excellent polish provide crisp, well defined reflections. The gem displays very slight inclusions that are visible at eye level under close inspection, yet these inclusions do not detract from the overall transparency or from the evenness of color. From a design perspective the emerald cut offers clean geometry that fits well in settings that emphasize modern lines, or in classic settings where the strong outline of the stone can be framed for protection. Given the cut and the presence of minor inclusions, settings that protect the corners and girdle are recommended for everyday wear, with prong or bezel options that secure the step pavilion and preserve the symmetry of the stone.

In terms of durability, this sapphire is a member of the corundum family, which rates 9 on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness, making it one of the hardest colored gemstones available and highly resistant to scratching in normal wear. By comparison, common jewelry gemstones such as quartz register at 7 on the Mohs scale, topaz at 8, and beryl varieties such as emerald and aquamarine generally fall in the 7.5 to 8 range, while diamond remains the hardest natural gem at 10. The exceptional hardness of corundum provides confidence for daily wear in rings, bracelets, and pendants, provided standard precautions are observed, such as avoiding harsh impact and exposure to abrasive materials. Care for this untreated color change sapphire is straightforward, warm soapy water and a soft brush will safely remove routine soils, and periodic professional inspection is advised to verify the security of the setting. The lack of enhancement enhances the long term stability of the stone, and its origin in Madagascar reflects a geological source with a track record for producing richly colored, durable sapphires. The Natural Sapphire Company is pleased to present this natural, untreated example for clients seeking a durable, collectible color change sapphire with exceptional optical and physical qualities.
