This sapphire began its journey in the gem gravels of Ceylon, Sri Lanka, where the rough material was recovered by experienced prospectors who have worked the area for generations. The rough was carefully examined on site for clarity and color, and this particular crystal displayed an uncommon combination of transparency and saturated blue that warranted further investment. From the mine the material proceeded to a regional sorting house, where it was cataloged and prepared for precision cutting, with its origin and physical characteristics recorded for traceability.
The crystal was entrusted to a cutter practiced in balancing color distribution and light performance. The cutter fashioned the stone into an oval shape with a mixed brilliant cut, producing proportions that measure 7.08 by 5.31 by 3.15 millimeters and yield a finished weight of 1.05 carats. The mixed brilliant cut was selected to maximize the gem’s intense color intensity and to optimize return of light through the crown. Polishing was executed to an excellent standard, resulting in crisp facet junctions and a lively surface finish. Under loupe and at eye level the clarity is assessed as very very slightly included, with inclusions that do not diminish the gem’s transparency or visual appeal. No enhancement has been applied to this sapphire, the natural color and clarity remain intact.
Upon completion the stone was evaluated, photographed, and prepared for market presentation by The Natural Sapphire Company, with documentation that references its Ceylon origin and the technical specifications described. The finished gem presents as a transparent, intensely colored blue sapphire suitable for a range of fine jewellery settings that benefit from a balance of brilliance and hue. Its dimensions and mixed brilliant cutting style make it particularly well suited for secure four prong or bezel settings that allow light to interact with the pavilion and crown. The recorded attributes, including 1.05 carat weight, oval shape, 7.08 by 5.31 by 3.15 millimeter dimensions, mixed brilliant cut, very very slightly included clarity at eye level, intense color intensity, excellent polish, no enhancement, and Ceylon origin, accompany the stone through final sale and certification, ensuring clarity of provenance and specification for the buyer.
