From the ancient alluvial gravels of Ceylon this pear shape violet sapphire began its journey, a crystal formed under heat and time where corundum took on a subtle violet breath. As it left the earth the rough showed promise, and at 0.71 carat with dimensions of 6.05 x 4.82 x 3.24 mm the stone was set aside for careful shaping. The lapidary chose a faceted, mixed brilliant cut to honor its transparency and intense color intensity, preserving depth while opening the stone to lively flashes of light. Evaluated at eye level as very very slightly included, and given an excellent polish, this sapphire remains completely natural with no enhancement, a rarity that speaks to the integrity of its origin.
