This sapphire began as a whisper of color deep in the gem bearing hills of Ceylon, where layers of ancient rock, heat and pressure coax corundum into blue. Our 0.58 carat round Ceylon blue sapphire, measuring 4.91 x 4.89 x 3.28 mm, carries that geological story in every facet. Cut as a faceted mixed brilliant, the pavilion and crown are balanced to return light with lively scintillation, while an excellent polish gives each table and facet a mirror finish. Evaluated at eye level, the clarity is very very slightly included, offering an eye clean appearance that lets the stone read as transparent and pure. The medium color intensity yields a cool, classical blue that shifts from a bright cornflower tone in daylight to a deeper, more contemplative blue under warm light. This gem has been heat treated, a traditional and stable enhancement used throughout the trade to gently refine hue and clarity, with disclosure and care in every step of the process.
