Product description

This 2.01 carat transparent yellow sapphire presents an elegant asscher octagon form, with precise dimensions of 7.16 x 6.28 x 4.92 mm. The cutting style is faceted, executed as an asscher cut, producing balanced step facets that emphasize symmetry and internal light play. Clarity is graded as very very slightly included, evaluated at eye level, delivering a clear window into the stone with only minimal natural characteristics visible under close inspection. The piece exhibits intense color intensity, a consistent and saturated yellow tone that reads vividly through the pavilion and table. The polish is excellent, yielding crisp facet junctions and a smooth reflective surface. Origin is Ceylon Sri Lanka, and the crystal has been enhanced through heat treatment, a stable and transparent method used to optimize hue and improve overall clarity. This gem is presented by The Natural Sapphire Company.

Born from deep time, this sapphire traces its origin to the high grade metamorphic environments of Sri Lanka, where complex geological forces converged millions of years ago. In those ancient conditions, aluminum rich sediments and silica poor protoliths were subjected to sustained heat and pressure during tectonic events, promoting the formation of corundum, the mineral species that composes sapphire. As the crystal lattice grew over prolonged intervals, trace amounts of iron became incorporated, modulating the way the crystal absorbed and scattered light and producing the warm yellow coloration that characterizes this stone. Over successive uplift and erosion cycles, portions of the host rock were liberated, allowing durable corundum crystals to accumulate in river gravels and alluvial deposits where they were ultimately recovered by miners working centuries old seamlines and modern alluvial workings.

Following recovery, the rough underwent deliberate cutting and thermal enhancement to reveal its full potential. The asscher faceting pattern was chosen to harmonize the stone proportions, preserving weight while maximizing depth and brilliance. Heat treatment was applied in controlled conditions to refine the tone and reduce the visual impact of microscopic inclusions, a widely accepted practice within the trade that enhances permanence and stability. The resulting 2.01 carat asscher octagon yellow sapphire combines geological history, technical cutting skill, and careful treatment, offering a transparent record of the earth processes that created it, and the human craft that brought it to its finished state, represented by The Natural Sapphire Company.
