When we recently celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary, I decided to look for a sapphire ring as we had never had an engagement ring. We went to many jewelry stores but were put off by the sameness of designs, the fact that most of them were heat-treated (a common industry process to hide flaws), and what seemed to us to be excessive cost. Through the internet, I found out that buying the stone separately was a better way to go.
I then found the web-site for the Natural Sapphire Co. It was a revelation! With loads of tutorial information about all aspects of selecting a stone and a comprehensive catalog, we selected some 20+ stones and made an appointment to personally go to their offices in mid-town Manhattan. Every aspect of the experience was excellent. Their Gemologist, C.P., is extremely knowledgeable, and after viewing, and selecting a stone, she helped us design a ring. They later e-mailed us a picture of what the ring would look like. Within a few days, it was completed and sent to us via FedEx. Perfectly wrapped, enclosed in a heavy, beautiful metal box, and with enclosed photographs, and a comprehensive description for identification, as well as a GIA report.
In an era when many transactions are gimmicky and opaque, it is a pleasure to deal with true professionals.
Best Wishes,
Milton Feder
